KingPin Patch Status

by Steve Gibson, Jul 09, 1999 3:46am PDT

KungFu from PlanetKingPin was kind enough to forward on some email from Ryan Feltrin of Xatrix with word on the progress of the first KingPin patch. What's gonna be in the patch? Well here ya go:

What bugs have you got nailed? The long level loads, pauses during multiplay, scoreboard issues with more than 10 players and some server crashes are the main bugs fixed. The new client/server package will not be backwards compatible, so everyone will need to upgrade at once, which is why we want to put it through a good testing cycle first.

  • Again, you can always find stuff to bitch about, but has anyone had played this game\'s multiplayer? It fsckin ROCKS! No game since Q1 has had this good of a multiplayer game. The weapons rule, (HMG anyone? BOOM BOOM BOOM!) the levels really have great continuity and action, and who hasn\'t wanted to dispatch their friends while saying \"In your face, muthafucka!\" ?
Sure, I played the single player game, and it had glitches, but I\'m done with it now. Who cares? The real life of a game is in its multiplayer, and I think in that area, we have a real winner with Kingpin.
