GameSpot has posted a Q&A with EA's Mark Skaggs, asking him a few questions about the upcoming C&C Generals which is looking oh so good. The GameSpot guys ask about response to the game at E3, a mission they didn't show at E3, plans for releasing the level editor of the game, and if the game is still on track for release this year.

  • GS: So is Generals still on schedule for release this year? Would you be willing to delay its release until 2003 for development reasons?

MS: We'll have more user testing and feedback for Generals than we've ever had in any other product we've done, which may (or may not) affect our schedule. We're really focused on developing an incredible RTS game, and we're fortunate in that EA has provided us with all the resources we could possibly need--especially recently with increased staff. But it really all comes down to the feedback we get from the community. They're our most important gauge on how the product is shaping up, and we'll continue to tweak it until it meets their standards.

*pounds head on desk* Spring 2003 it's looking like at this point.

  • The GFX do look amazing. But i went over this stuff too many times with Westwood. It's always been the same since Tiberian Sun:

    - previews get you worked up
    - buy the game on releasedate
    - play online for a few days
    - uninstall
    - fire up Starcraft again

Fuck it. They have not made a decent RTS (gameplay, MP) since Red Alert (TS was cool, but overrun by Starcraft). Especially the last games were really bad. And now Blizzard gave us Warcraft3.

I'll prolly pick this one up anyway...and be dissapointed again....sigh, i need a spine.
