Help id
by Steve Gibson, Jul 02, 2002 2:04pm PDTid Software is reworking their file library and download system. Since Shackers are known as such as uh.. helpful bunch it's been requested that you guys try to beat up on this website. Basically download stuff, see what you get. Try to hack with wacky urls if you can etc.
- Should be throttled at 60k/s - Should only allow you to download one file at a time - The server is liable to go up and down from time to time as tweaks are made to handle the loadPost your results in the comments here and you've helped make the world a better place. Thanks for helping everyone.

They also need to pass a mime type of text/plain when downloading .txt files. As it stands, they don't word wrap until I view source.
I then tried to download ..\<filename>, which of course downloads a file in the previous directory. It forwarded me to FBI.gov. Heh, good one, ID!
All in all, nothing that doesn't do mime types properly would never see the light of day from my coding space. I have no idea why Id is testing at this time.

If you notice, the id Software website, has no downloads section. Its been under construction ever since they updated their site...
This is probably just to test out their DL server, so that the expansive downlods section can be put up...

I have IE6 set to NOT play media files in web pages, but I'm still not entirely sure this error isn't because of any IE6 settings on my end.

One of the id employees mentioned that some car footage of various developers racing their cars against one another might be posted to the web, including footage of the infamous ferrari racing the popo's in a stadium I believe. How about posting that to the server?

thru the asp page you can find exactly what ftp folder your file is in, and get as many as you
I dont know if you care or not cus u specifically said the html?
ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/source/ and just grab some files
The only limit is that 175 can connect, so you might have to wait a couple of secs for it to load

Interestingly enough, when I tried the "right click save file as" route this is the file that I got:
www.talisweb.com/justin/download.asp.html
I managed to download more than one file at the same time using Flashget, but resume is not supported :(
