I thought that 64-bit color precision was in the DX9 standard. Carmack said he wanted 64-bit color precision in hardware. Either way, it's a good thing since a lot of the more recent games have one-hue scenes that always have horrid color banding, even in 32-bit.

HELLO people? weve gone over this a million times here. source textures will not be 64 or 128 bit, neither will the output to the screen. this is SOLELY for the internal math of blending etc. input 32bit, output 32bit. can we stop the silly questions now please?
