Well wasnt today just interesting? The day just blew by and I dont think I've had anything to eat except for some lunchables and funyuns. Been so occupied doing all kinds of stuff at once. Today was a 'good day' though overall despite that little server hiccup we had this morning. Yay! Ok here's some stuff for your evening perusal:

- Kuro5hin is in a financial bind, help em out - Telecommuting on the rise in the USA. - Free cigs = pisses people off - Peacefire = pisses off anti-porn people - Little NVidia story - Disney loves the l00nix! - Apparently the Webbys sucks now
Lastly, the answer to all of our prayers. Another Britney Spears movie, with NASCAR!

  • I might as well put up my second impressions of NWN as of yet.

    The Good
    - Graphics. Despite what you may think you saw in the video, the graphics are really good. I'm usually zoomed out max and it looks excellent. Up close you can see the characters are a little blocky, but I'm rarely zoomed in that far. The shadows in the game are also really good, makes the world seem a lot more alive when you're walking in a dark dungeon and there are shadows of you everywhere

-The story. It seems to be pretty involved right now, but I still too early in the game to give an accurate impression. I can say that there seems to be a lot happening in the city with the plague and all (and no, that isn't a spoiler, tells you about the plauge in the intro). I even light some piles of bodies on fire and gain a few exp. now and again.

-Char. creation. It's really, really, easy. To test out the game first I went through all the steps of creating my character in a few seconds. The new way you distribute stat points is better as now it's no longer luck if you get a good roll or not. Feats are also neat and should make for some pretty varied characters.

    The Bad

-Voice acting. I've said it a few times already, some of the voice acting is just horrible. Most of it is acceptable if not good, but just some it, ugh. The worst of it all so far though is Aibreth, the paladin of Tyr who is a main character in the game. whenever I talk to her I feel like I'm watching a bad B movie. I think the problem might have been bioware having that fallout with black isle (or was it interplay?). They probably lost all their voice actor contacts or something I'd imagine. I do know one thing, it will make Vantage cry (no Melissa Disney as of yet).

-Menus. Maybe it's just that I'm not use to the menus yet, but I'm havig a difficult time finding out some info about my character in the game. I know that to add skill points into a weapon is done through feats now (or at least it seems that way), but I'm having a difficult time finding just how proficient I am with a weapon after bonuses and etc. Another thing relating to this is weapons no longer have a speed rating, so I'm not sure if speed no longer comes into play or is it just num. of attacks now? For example, why wouldn't I use a heavy crossbow now over a light one if there is no speed difference?

One of the other stats of the weapons are confusing, it shows it like this ex. 18-20/x2 It's not the dmg. rating, but the one under it. I'm not sure if this is backstag damage maybe or thaco (although I hear that's gone, and now that I think about it I haven't seen it in the game once yet...).

Armor class is now better, in my opinion. You want a higher number instead of a neg. one. Although I'm not longer sure what's a good armor class or not. My rogue has around 21, I'm assuming a fighter would have around 30 right now.

All in all, a really good game so far despite a few flaws. I'm falling asleep here now due to being up last night playing, but I think I'll go play a bit more right now any ways.
