EQ2 Images

Thanks for that '4gamer' link crazywigga!! Those GameSpy pics must be REALLY old and they made me quite worried about shadows, lighting, speculars and bumps in EQ2. But seeing those jaw-dropping-drool-dripping E3 videos of EQ2... man I was truly impressed. Almost nearly Doom 3 like graphics (dungeon parts) for MMORPG game and the motion captured animation was also very nice.

Bah, after checking out the models again to at least give it a chance, I remembered why I really disliked EQ - apart from the fact that its super boring, takes way too much time, and places a focus too much on political nonsense:

Animation.. These pictures might be interesting, and sure they might run real nice and have a neeto spellcasting animation, but what about character to character animation and interaction.

Am I really the only one who wants to see combat be more than mindless repeated whacking without so much as a drop of blood? Bashing a monster should send them to the floor reeling, and a dual wielding troll should be sending bits of flesh across the screen (and for those too sensitive to see a game purely based on COMBAT AND KILLING - obviously turning off these things would be in order).

Seriously, what a piece of turd - I may check out the star wars one, but these fekkers are gonna have to go out of their way to change the gameplay model they've raped the online RPG community with.

come on.. aside the hot bump mapped chick (which has I must admit a nice armour) this looks like plain shit :( Sure technically this is half decent and still.. only half the polygons are bump mapped which makes for a totally unconsistent look, and the overall look is ugly, it is done whithout taste, the lightning is ugly, the bump mapping is totally over-done, the texture are very so-so, and the overall design, charaters and models is.. ugh. :|

I can understand these shots are taken from a WIP half complete build, with non final assets but still.. I remember the first two screenshots looked ok, these surely don't.
Sometimes no screenshots is better than awfull screenshots. Probably not what the marketing guy was thinking :)

If those aren't renders (which they probably are) you are going to need one mother fucking MONSTER of a machine to run that slut.

At least cyber sex will make sense now, unlike the old 50 polygon models.And these are not pre-renders, some decent quality movies of the EQ2 E3 booth were posted a while ago, not the ign/gamespot super low res crap, and it looks this good in motion. Almost doom 3 quality graphics in a MMORPG.

I believe star wars galaxies is the only game that will compete with EQ2...and they are both coming from sony, so cheers to them.
