Possible AMD Clawhammer Benches
by Steve Gibson, Jun 07, 2002 8:36am PDTSeems kinda wacky, but you never really know. Here's some benchmarks of that next-gen Clawhammer chip running at a conservative 800mhz. Thing is it manages to beat out a P4 running at 1.6ghz. Hmmm. Thanks HardOCP

But my point is that none of this says shit. I want to see a high clocked ClawHammer against a top of the line P4.

The Itanium should be so superior, but it is truly impossible to test an Itanium due to it's true 64 bit nature.
this bizzare AMD hybrid 32/64 bit chip is such a terrible idea in some respects, it's just a bastardization of a bastardization of a bad, bad chip (8086), in this instance, Intel's starting from scratch with the Itanium actually seems pretty noble (I know I know, I'm being melodramatic), but in reality, they're being foolish, I think AMD is going to kick intel's ass with this thing, much to my chagrin.
You people do realize that there's not really such an entity as "64 bit code", right? I mean ClawHammer code will not run on an Itanium, will not run on an Alpha AXP, etc, etc...

Maybe the Claw was running with AGP8x (should help Quake3 scores versus AGP 4x for the p4). Also it presumably gains a lot of OpenGL driver performance by supporting SSE2, no?
Very impressive results if legit - i wonder how it scales with clockspeed...
