UT2003 Q&A
by Sander Pilon, May 22, 2002 9:33am PDT4unrealers has a Q&A up with Tim Sweeny. The interview clarifies that there is NO set date for the UT2003 demo, but that it is "close". Other topics include system requirements, frame rate caps, vehicles and engine design. A very good and compact interview, if I may say so.

This is a little disenheartening. I had a chance to check out the Unreal 2 Alpha on my own system (800/Gf3) and it ran quite nicely. And that was with unoptimized code, but of course no physics engine etc, so I figured it'd balance out in terms of performance. Sounds like UT2 is going to be quite a bear to run smoothly.

without waiting 6 months for the newest nvidia card? Umm, sure it gets "good" performance
with a 1ghz system, as long as you're looking at a fucking wall. What happens
when you get a 8vs8 game going and you have at least 10 people on the screen at the same time? I'm sure have a 100 times more polygons improves the gameplay experience when
you're getting 10fps eh Sweeny.

Hang on, that system can swing 30 FPS, how can he say that an AMD 1.8 or P4 2.4 Ghz with a GeForce 4 4600 can't push 60 FPS? Doubling your processor and 2 generations on the video card won't garner you double the FPS? The GF4 is at least 25% faster than the GF3 and the GF3 is a heck of a lot faster than the GF 2...

1) "You´ll get good performance on any 1 + GHz PC with a GeForce2, Radeon 7500, or later video card."
2) "Hardware that runs UT2003 at a steady 60 fps hasn´t shipped yet."
LOL! How do YOU spell "bs"?
Tim Sweeney, WAKE UP! "Good performance" = running "UT2003 at a steady 60fps"
and if epic isn't developing this game, whats their next game?
