Black & White 2

You know, I really enjoyed the original game. The only reason I stopped playing it was because of the autosave bug (it would crash every time it tried to autosave.. not fun). I never really understood the heavy backlash against the game here on the shack. Everyone claiming "WORST GAME EVAR" etc etc. Perhaps if the only two games you have ever played are B&W and Half-Life, but jebus... B&W was an excellently crafted game with unique gameplay mechanics and gorgeous graphics. It was a compelling game and I had a lot of fun with it, following the storyline/mission and just goofing off with my creature and the peons (throwing trees, etc). Bad AI? Name a single game that had superior AI. Name one. While it wasn't perfect, the Creature AI in B&W stands head and shoulders above every other game out there. Just goes to show how horribly bad the REST of the games are, where there is any AI to speak of in the first place. I think perhaps people were expecting the world, and felt they were let down... The only people at fault in this sort of scenario are those that did not have realistic expectations to begin with. Don't blame the media for pumping up your excitement.. it is your choice on whether to become hyped by the press or not. I regret buying the game, but ONLY because that one bug killed my enjoyment. The game itself was a lot of fun and I was very upset that the bug prevented me from playing it more. Also, you guys are a bunch of feckless jackanapes.

MIRACLE GAUSS GUN

Not only was B&W (imho) the most BORING game ever created, it also had a few conceptual problems. Okay, so I'm a God, right? If I'm a God, why does this chick tell me--ME a GOD--"Go get this scroll and I'll open this gate for you." What the holy flying !@#$ is that all about? Why can't I open the gate myself? Am I less powerful than the average mortal? Was I the nancy-boy back in God-school, constaly beaten up by the bigger Gods? I wanted to say "Eat LIGHTNING you mouthy bitch!" And what's up with this pet business? How does it follow that a God should have a freaking PET?!? Hello? If I wanted to train damned pet, I'd play POKEMON or something!!! How does this even *remotely* fit into the whole God concept?!? It's a good thing EB has a solid return policy.

I agree with most of you - the game was really different and that needs to be encouraged, lest we end up with nothing but 50 CS clones on the market and 50 expansion packs for The Sims. If it's not your cup of tea, fine - but there's alot of growing to be done in gameplay, and B&W definitely made it's share of innovative contributions. Project Ego, oneof PM's new games also is looking extremely cool.

I felt that Black and White just wasn't fun. Sure, it was innovative, but I was pretty let down overall. I wasn't really expecting much either. Innovation may be cool, but if the game isn't fun- It's pointless.

the gesturing makes the effectiveness of the game interface dependant on system performance. this is especially problematic in multiplayer.

i really don't know what to think. I have pretty much loved everthing Peter has ever made. B&W despite having problems was a great idea that really needed to be expanded on.
So maybe this will be good

well.. I liked the original B&W whilel I played it.. but after 3 hours of gameplay, I had to stop playing it.. and I never picked it up again.. Just didnt get any addiction to it at all :)

This could be a good game...im just going to wait a few weeks and see what EVERYONE ELSE thinks hehe

I had a lot of fun with B&W. Especially when I did let the game run overnight to see what happened while I was asleep. I guess it's been the faszination of a fishtank or something like that. Now if a fishtank could cast miracles...

B&W was the first game purchase i had made for ages....

and both are only interesting to look at for a small amount of time.

despite everyone's bitching about the original, which I agree with alot of it... it was a clever, well-made game, and as much of it as I played, I liked it. I'd be curious about B&W2

villagers need more B&W?

personally i'll never buy another game by lionhead. no matter how good it looks. it to me is more of a well that was cool for 5 minutes and blah after that. good potential but poor execution in my eyes.

I think I'll wait the first month of the release to see what everyone else says about it when comparing it to the first.
