USArmy Gets Unreal

The USArmy has decided that they want to goof off and play games. They have licensed the Unreal engine technology to power something they are calling "America's Army".   We'll probably get a glimpse of what it's about at E3.

  • imagine a soldier playing with a laptop while bullets are flying over his head because he is trying to pin-point the best possible solution to overtaking the enemy by using an unreal engine-based computer representation of the battlefield.

    lieutenant: "dammit, use ghost mode and tell me what if we head straight here..."

    <private drops to console>
    <windows freezes>

    private: "the computer's stuck, I must reboot, sir!"

    lieutenant: "..."

    lieutenant: "give me your gps palm pilot!"

    <lieutenant grabs device>

    private: "sir, that's my gameboy advance!"

    <BIG EXPLOSION>

    ....
