Neverwinter Nights Toolset
by Maarten Goldstein, May 17, 2002 3:50pm PDTAs promised, the beta toolset for Neverwinter Nights has been released. This will allow people to get some experience with the adventure creation tools, though content created with the beta toolset (probably) won't work with the full version of the game. You can grab the massive 241mb file from Fileplanet. In related news, there is now a Neverwinter Nights community site at Bioware.com. Thanks Torias. Update: A mirror is now up 3D Gamers.

Wow. Amazing, like very amazing. Wait until you get about an hour into using it and you realize you still have multiple levels of stuff you havent touched on yet. Shallow learning curve but lots of power. Logical UI, good usability.
I created a map using the crypt tile set, laid out a HUGE space using the bottomless pit tiles and then created bridges crossing over it at various points. Used "Evil Dungeon" atmosphere setting and it looked great. But the best part was dropping dust plumes on all the bridges to give the effect of streaming fog falling off the bridges as you walk accross them. Very cool. Add to all this the fact there is already custom models out there and launch is going to be a major deal for this game.

This toolset is amazing. I think Bioware just set a new standard for editors. I wish I had some more documentation, but I have been zipping around and setting up all kinds of stuff so far. Very powerfull and easy to use. Those two normally never happen together.

elf Female, the last portrait in the list! :)
try the creature wizard, it has a fuckload of the player potraits...
there are a HEAP of really cool ones :)
I just made a little map with the greatest of ease. Seriously it's really easy to use. Just select crap from the menu, put it down, rotate it or whatever, it's great.
The script editor has syntax highlighting and everything, the scripting looks very similar to a C++ style language.
I'm going to uninstall it though, i dont want my experience ruined for the real game
