  • This is the first time IÂ’ve see a star wars flick, didn't watch the old ones and episode one never interested me. Younger brother needed a ride to see the movie and I was going to see Spiderman again but the times didn't match up and IÂ’ll be waiting 2 hours for the youngÂ’in to finish his movie. So I went and saw episode 2. First whatÂ’s with all the 3 year olds in the theater? Why bring your kid to see star wars? Forget that, terrible acting (I believe IÂ’ve seen better on WB and UPN brings serious competition to this flick), story was thin, and finally cgi and sound was beyond excellent. The entire time IÂ’m going "holy fuck" under my breath. And I swear I saw that white chick's rack, there is one scene where she just changed into the white outfit (itÂ’s a tight fit) and you see some nipples. But overall it was garbage; get some decent actors even if the storyline is weak. Jackson did ok, but Christ those first 5 minutes I almost killed someone.

  • Just got back from SilverCity Riverport in Vancouver - saw AOTC at a DLP equipped theater. All I can say is WOW. That was without a doubt, the SHARPEST, CLEAREST image I have EVER seen projected on a movie screen. No pops, no crackles, no bits of dirt on the image at all. Absolutely amazing. If you can see the film in a digital theater, go see it there. You will not be disappointed. I don't see where people are complaining about this - to me, it's definitely worth the money.

As for the film, I loved it. A great roller coaster ride; plenty of action. The audience cheered wildly when Yoda came out to battle Dooku. Lots of applause at the films conclusions. Better then TPM, but it seemed to have less of a plot then TPM (which I enjoyed). Some of the dialogue was stilted and cliched, but what do you expect - it's Saturday Matinee fodder, and what AOTC does, it does so delightfully.

  • Hot jigglin' Jesus! SPOILERS PRESENT.

I just got back from seeing AOTC in a group of 6 skeptics. Any "Star Wars" mood I may have in was continuously stifled by their usually scathing snickers and whispers to each other. I did my best to ignore the heathens, but my morale was already shaken. Each and every "romantic" scene, teetering precariously on the brink of insincerity, was violently pushed over the edge at any opportune moment. They exploited the flaws so vehemently that I could do nothing but dislike the film.

What horrible, disjointed dialogue! What poor transitions! What tacky special effects! I couldn't believe that Lucas had taken this long to produce something that sparked so little interest. There were times I couldn't figure out where a character was, also times were I couldn't figure out where I was. After the first half of the movie, I was ready to quit. And by the sound of it, so were my 6 companions.

Oh, but they were soon hushed. Nobody whispered during Jango Fett's fight with Obi Wan. Nobody laughed when 30+ lightsabers rushed towards the enemy simultaniously. In fact, they were silent, on the edge of their seat- Until, of course, Yoda made his grand appearance after Anakin and Obi-Wan's unsuccessful fight with Doku. The audience, including the skeptics, erupted in cheering to watch the little green man cast away his cane and instead wield a lightsaber.

I left the theatre exhilarated, but confused. What, exactly, had I just spent $8.25 on? I thought back to R2-D2's sudden flying ability, and again to little Boba Fett's heartbreakingly bad laugh. But why was I still smiling like a drunken idiot?

AOTC inspired some truly "Star-Wars" type patriotism in me- A quality that was so vacant in TPM. I was, for the most part, glad to be audience, rooting for the Jedi. I realized that I didn't agree with the dialog, or the consistency of certain characters, or the camera work, or the music, or any number of flaws that my group felt needed to be brought to my immediate attention, but I just kept on grinning like a fool, eager to see the next lightsaber drawn.

Perhaps I'll better understand my thoughts on the movie after my next viewing at Seattle's Digital Theatre, the Cinerama.
