So I'm guessing in 3 palpatine plays dooku and anakin against each other and when Anakin strikes Dooku down and gives into his anger he fully crosses to the darkside. Meanwhile Padme and Obi-wan are rushing to save anakin from the darkside. Padme finds him first and the emperor kills here ala lightning in RoTJ, however this time anakin just stands and watches. Obi-wan enters a bit later, finds Padme's body and decides to give Anakin the whooping he deserves. Obi-wan wins, Anakin is nearly killed but survives in the encounter suit, Dooku escapes, the end.

- Did George Lucas name Luke Skywalker after himself? did the "skywalker" bit have any significance either?
- Did the entire star was saga take place in the distant past ("a long time ago in a galaxy far far away..") or the distant future? Also, did it take place on earth (and other planets) or a totally different planet? if it is from the past, there is NO chance in hell that the language would retain one bit!
thanks

Felt like Star Wars again, nothing like TPM at all, really cool movie - plot was well developed and I think I cringed like once or twice at most.
several classical star wars funny lines but not cheesy (think the bits in the original star wars which made you laugh - things like that) some cool lines - specifically a funny / deeper meaning one from ob-1 in a bar to anakin (will say no more) - excellent effects, I finally found Natalie Portman attractive and not like a kid anymore.
In general no complaints at all really - the way this is moving the next movie will be fine indeed, dunno what else to say without making this a non spoiler free review.
look out for a good battle towards the end, it was so amazing, awesome infact (literal sense of the word) it was like "wow I can't believe I'm lucky enough to see this"
v.cool.

I was pretty surprised on how the clones came together- first I was confused "Why would anyone create a robot army with the knowledge that there is a clone army?" Given the fact that the orders for both opposite armies came from the same source (Palpatine), but I think the reason why this was done is because he really wanted the clones to become the stormtroopers, but he needed a way to do it so that the Jedi counsel could be Ok with it. So he devises a plan to start this seperatist movement and make droids for them so that the Jedi NEED the clones to combat this. I think in EP3, he'll turn the tables and the clones will rebel against the Jedi-creating a great storm trooper army.

OK, I was thinking about this yesterday. In Ep4 the Jedi could sense each other at planetary distances. You know, "I feel a disturbance in the force" and all.
Now, everyone in the presence of the guy who will be the Emperor don't even know that he's got bigtime powah. Mace Windu walks right up to Dooku and Dooku doesn't even know he's coming. What happened to all the disturbances in the force, or sensing powerful Jedi...

Star Wars Episode 3
The Clone Wars are now over two years old. The entire galaxy has been thrown into chaos. On one side of the conflict are hundreds of separatist star systems, led by the charismatic Count Dooku, who are rebelling against the Republic led by the scheming-in-secret Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious.
Palpatine manages to place blame on the Galactic Senate and the Jedi Knights for much of what is going on during the wars. Palpatine makes them the scape goats for all of the galaxies many problems. The people grow tired of the Galactic Senate and the Jedi Knights. They are ready for drastic change and Palpatine realizes this.
At the beginning of the movie, Anakin and Obi-Wan fight in various Clone War battles. Obi-Wan is now a general fighting for Bail Organa of Alderaan.
Palpatine senses Anakin's impatience with the Jedi Knights. The Jedi seek to keep Anakin from Padme. Also, Anakin hates being both poor and relatively powerless. A Jedi takes a vow of poverty. Anakin believes that he is perhaps the greatest Jedi ever and wants people to recognize his greatness. In secret, Palpatine approaches Anakin. Palpatine explains the ways of the dark side and how it can be used by Anakin to make him rich and powerful. Anakin is receptive. He and Padme have nothing and they will always have nothing as long as Anakin remains a Jedi. Palpatine's offer cannot be refused.
Palpatine explains to Anakin the rules of the Sith. Palpatine tells Anakin that only two Sith Lords can exist at any one time. If Anakin wants to become rich and powerful, then Anakin must face Darth Tyranus again and kill Darth Tyranus in order to become Palpatine's new apprentice. Later, Anakin and Tyranus meet face to face. Anakin slays Tyranus after an intense light-saber duel.
While Anakin is falling to the dark side, Obi-Wan is busy fighting in the wars. Padme contacts Obi-Wan and tells Obi-Wan that Anakin is leaving the Jedi Order. Obi-Wan leaves the war and rushes to confront Anakin.
Obi-Wan finds Anakin on a volcanic world. Anakin tells Obi-Wan that the Jedi are weak. The Jedi seek to be both poor and powerless. Anakin states that the dark side offers riches beyond any man's wildest ambitions. Anakin calls Obi-Wan an idealistic fool for staying with the Jedi. The two begin to argue. A light-saber battle between them erupts.

umm, who was the jedi who originally supposedly ordered up the clone army 10 years before?

As for the film, I loved it. A great roller coaster ride; plenty of action. The audience cheered wildly when Yoda came out to battle Dooku. Lots of applause at the films conclusions. Better then TPM, but it seemed to have less of a plot then TPM (which I enjoyed). Some of the dialogue was stilted and cliched, but what do you expect - it's Saturday Matinee fodder, and what AOTC does, it does so delightfully.
I just got back from seeing AOTC in a group of 6 skeptics. Any "Star Wars" mood I may have in was continuously stifled by their usually scathing snickers and whispers to each other. I did my best to ignore the heathens, but my morale was already shaken. Each and every "romantic" scene, teetering precariously on the brink of insincerity, was violently pushed over the edge at any opportune moment. They exploited the flaws so vehemently that I could do nothing but dislike the film.
What horrible, disjointed dialogue! What poor transitions! What tacky special effects! I couldn't believe that Lucas had taken this long to produce something that sparked so little interest. There were times I couldn't figure out where a character was, also times were I couldn't figure out where I was. After the first half of the movie, I was ready to quit. And by the sound of it, so were my 6 companions.
Oh, but they were soon hushed. Nobody whispered during Jango Fett's fight with Obi Wan. Nobody laughed when 30+ lightsabers rushed towards the enemy simultaniously. In fact, they were silent, on the edge of their seat- Until, of course, Yoda made his grand appearance after Anakin and Obi-Wan's unsuccessful fight with Doku. The audience, including the skeptics, erupted in cheering to watch the little green man cast away his cane and instead wield a lightsaber.
I left the theatre exhilarated, but confused. What, exactly, had I just spent $8.25 on? I thought back to R2-D2's sudden flying ability, and again to little Boba Fett's heartbreakingly bad laugh. But why was I still smiling like a drunken idiot?
AOTC inspired some truly "Star-Wars" type patriotism in me- A quality that was so vacant in TPM. I was, for the most part, glad to be audience, rooting for the Jedi. I realized that I didn't agree with the dialog, or the consistency of certain characters, or the camera work, or the music, or any number of flaws that my group felt needed to be brought to my immediate attention, but I just kept on grinning like a fool, eager to see the next lightsaber drawn.
Perhaps I'll better understand my thoughts on the movie after my next viewing at Seattle's Digital Theatre, the Cinerama.

I can't believe you guys are so blind that you can't see how Anakin is going to be turned towards the dark side. He is already half way there after Episode II. One of the most important women in his life died in his arms, and he was powerless to stop it from happening. THAT is what truely screws him up! His mom dies is truely horrible, but his personality makes him feel as if he should be POWERFUL enough to control such things.
Anakin vows that he will make himself powerful enough to never let such a thing happen again. This implies that he will grow his powers so that he can protect Padme from being killed.
Also, note the tension between him and Kenobi right after Padme falls out of the fighter ship, during the last huge clone battle? Kenobi advices to think of the greater good, while Anakin doesn't want the fate of his mother to reach the fate of his lover (Padme).
Well, in Episode III, you can bet that Anakin will be left between a rock and a hard place, and no matter what he does, Padme dies. This will complete his brain fucking, which causes him to turn to the dark side. Remember, many people are out to kill Padme, so there is no shortage there. You can bet Fett wants to avenge his father by killing Padme.
The last thing that you guys haven't considered is that Padme gives birth to her children who she conceived on her wedding night (lucky Anakin). I mean there was a 10 year gap between Ep 1 and 2. All we need is a 1 year gap between Ep 2 and 3, for her to have twin babies at the begining of the next movie. Worried about the threats to her life by the bounty hunters, she will send them off into hiding. This would allow her to be killed, causing Anakin to go crazy, yet still having the two younger Skywalkers left over for Ep 4.

I just had a few thoughts regarding the Jedi death thing - how *some* in essence don't die - they are able to come back in spirit form etc . . .
Anyways - aparently Yoda, Kenobi and Anikan are the only Jedi's who possess this ability - it was passed down from Yoda to the other two ( and presumedly Luke - who knows ), anyways - notice those who die, and 'come back as ghosts' so to speak - die when they are calm, and 'one with the force' - think about it. Kenobi stands there and prepares himself for death, Anikan knows he's dying and before he does, smiles to Luke, and then slips away - Yoda does much the same thing.
Now - the other Jedi's we're more familiar with that haven't come back ( think some of the Jedi's from EP II who were killed in the final battle, Qui-Gon Jinn, say even the Sith Lords, Sidious, etc ) have all died while engaged in battle - and aren't fully attuned to the Force, because they're flat out swingin' Saber's around and stuff.
Perhaps the only wa to come back is to be one with the force when you die, to actually be connected to it as you're killed, maybe only this way are you able to remain one with the force forever.
I dunno - just a theory I had. Hopefully this stuff is explained in Episode III - because the whole Qui-Gon Jinn not coming back as a ghost at the end of TPM was a question raised by many, that Lucas has managed to dodge. Clearly this was intentional, because Kenobi was obviously upset by his death - yet he never came back to comfort him nor offer further advice, whereas when Kenobi died, only moments later was he speaking to Luke via the force during the Yavin battle, and shortly after he appeared on Hoth.
Food for thought :)

probably already posted but
when you hear 'ANAKIN, ANAKIN, NOOOOOOO' that's qui-gon's voice saying anakin, not sure who says no, then you hear vadar's breathing...
pretty neat
Anyone else think it's a little funny how Obi-wan and Yoda, the only two Jedi to survive the prequels, also happen to be the two Jedi responsible for the training of the "failed" pupils (Anakin and Dooku)?
I also think it's a little odd how in the original trilogy, Obi-wan never seems to express much remorse or shame over having been the man who failed (over 10-15 years of teaching) to teach Anakin to control his anger.
Finally, probably an upopular opinion, but anyone disappointed over the Yoda fight scene? Firstly, Yoda being the ultimate Jedi in the galaxy, I was expecting him to pull some crazy telekinetic/mind-shattering psychic attacks to take out Dooku. Instead, Dooku is able to STALEMATE him in force power contests, and then respectibly defend himself against saber attacks. Maybe it's just the "weakening of the force" in the jedi, as Yoda mentioned.
Side note: That 1950's diner scene was the lamest thing I could've imagined. When I was watching the MPG at home I did a double take cause I thought it had suddenly switched films or something.

notice they were drinking that damn Blue Milk shit back when Anakin was a youth? Good God. No wonder Owen is grumpy in Ep IV.

My over all feeling is this. Better than Episode 1 but not great. Its good for the fact that it explained so much background though. I knew the acting was going to kill me right from the start when the security officer spoke the first time. ugh.
Observations:
Episode 4,5,6 >> Episode 2 > Episode 1
Jango > Boba
Clone army > Droid army
Yoda with lightsaber > all
