Son Of A...
by Steve Gibson, Oct 09, 1999 2:14am PDTI get home... and my _@#($@ hard drive crashes on my work machine. This causes a disturbance in the force. I need to go break some stuff or beat up the neighbor kid. It looks like those GeForce benchmarks are going to be delayed a bit. From the looks of things It's gonna take some major work to recover the contents of my hd. Gonna be a long night.. ugh. I need to start drinking coffee. I'll let you guys know how things turn out, it's not looking pretty though.

BACKSTREET BOYS\' RECORD LABEL LOOKING FOR NEW TALENT
ORLANDO, Fla. (Wireless Flash) -- Wannabe Backstreet Boys and \'N Sync-sters now have their chance to make the big time.
Trans Continental Records, the label behind the two big boy bands, is mounting a talent search for a new crop of hot young fellas.
The boys who are selected to the new band will be the subject of an upcoming \"Real World-\"style TV documentary about the making of a pop band.
A spokesperson for the record company says the point of the documentary is to show all the hard work that goes into creating a successful pop band.
The company also hopes the show will counteract recent negative publicity that the record label is a pop star factory churning out hunky but untalented teenybopper artists.

(Just thought I\'d keep you informed, heard it on CNN or something.)
those wizards at nvidia didnt send me a driver cd...
#18: My suggestion to you would be to save your $269, and add 125 to it and get a P3 450 and a good motherboard.... I have an ABIT BX6 and a P3 450... and I can overclock that badboy to 560mhz
your Voodoo 3... even though they arent as good as TNT\'s... should suit you fine with that, and with some tweaking, you could get your FPS up considerably.. i get 92.9 FPS on test2 timedemo and it even looks good, not shitty... just some tweaks.

I use a PII 233/voodoo3 2k pci to play quake3.
I\'m pretty much CPU limited right now for fps.
I\'m really hoping that a GeForce 256 will speed things up quite a bit, I don\'t need perfection but a noticeable boost in fps would do wonders for my mental game. So if you have anything comparable to test it in I woulds really like to know the performance increase in q3demo1 and if it\'s woth the 269$ plus shipping
(take the hint ya bastage!)

Seriously, your benchmarks would be the only ones I would trust. I know you really don\'t give a rat\'s ass about any particular hardware company... and that\'s how it should be.
I\'m building a system for a friend and he wants a V3-3500... he wants all that video-capture, tv-tuner, fm-tuner chit...
I was really hoping the GeForce was more than some smoke and other lies... Well, it pretty much don\'t matter because we are picking up the last few parts, including the videocard tomorrow and the GeForce ain\'t on no shelf yet and even if it was it wouldn\'t play UT worth a piss.
