Morrowind Performance: posted here as well for those of you avoiding spoilers, etc in the morrowind thread

Yesterday I was running Morrowind w/ full view and full shadows on a:

1Ghz Athlon Tbird with 640MB SDRAM and a GF2GTS. I averaged 40-60 fps indoors and 8-12 fps outdoors. Interestingly enough, the way the game is designed this is perfectly playable.

Today I'm running Morrowind w/ full view and full shadows on:

Same rig but with a GF4 Ti4600. I get 60-80 fps indoors and 12-15 fps outdoors.

Not sure where the bottleneck is, but I found this interesting. Hope this helps some of you with your decision on buying it do to performance issues, or those of you wondering how well the game might run on your rig. Obviously you don't need a brand new card to run this - all you're missing is the pixel shaded water (which has a high wow factor but that's it).

AMD is getting smoked by Intel number wise. Why can't AMD just release faster chips at the same rating as intels, everyone knows it will smoke them. But what AMDS fastest is 1.67 and Intels is 2.53? I know that AMDS are quite a bit faster but not 700 mhz faster

i think cnn just showed some material that relates to a very old rumor and possible spoiler

cnn showed jango fett and obi-wan fighting as shown in the trailer, but this time obi-wan gets blasted at least twice by the big guns on jangos ship

the old rumor is that 'obi-wan' in Episode 4 is actually a clone. Obi-wan or OB-1

HELP!

I have winamp 2.80 installed, and im using waveout.

Now, if i start a song it works fine, but say i skip ahead... BAM it goes nuts....makes a weird, sewer sounding sllooooowwww music thing that doesnt resemble music. every mp3 does this. didnt use to do this before .80, im regretting the upgrade. Anyone have an older version and can send me the out_wav.dll (icq 1273351)

Does it seem to anyone else like the use of "informative" to tag "funny" items is a bit inappropriate?

I admit I find it very funny when mods mark Maarten saying "you sound like a girl" to Steve informative, but really... it dilutes the informative tag to use it this way. Is it just me?

I pulled the HD from my sony laptop and put it in the toshiba. When in the toshiba it says "invalid system disk". Put it back in the sony it works great. Any ideas what would be causing the problem in the tosh?

ok both my computers are running supa hot. They are usually at 43 degrees celcius each. And now one is at 47 and the other at 51 idling, does room temperature play a factor? Cuz its insanely hotter than usual in here, like 15 degrees hotter than normal.
