Late Night Consoling
by jason bergman, May 03, 2002 8:30pm PDTSo it occurred to me today, as I was reading through some new FFXI info (see below) that I still haven't played Final Fantasy X. I've had it for months (since December!) but still haven't gotten around to playing it. I know it's good, heck, it's supposed to be great, but I just haven't been motivated to try it out. Part of the reason that I'm really in no rush to try it out is because of how disappointed I was with FFIX, but another reason is that I know I'm not going to get the next game in the series, so it'll be a long time before I get a new Final Fantasy to play. Still, I think it's about time I gave the game a shot. Of course, I still haven't gotten around to playing Anachronox either...
- Here's an update on AGB Games' 3D engine for the Game Boy Advance. Hey! They can do lava now! (Can Quake be far behind?)
- As I mentioned above, there's some new info from Final Fantasy XI up at PS2.IGN, taken from the latest issue of the Japanese mag Famitsu (which is the same source for the next two stories).
- LucasArts has posted the last of their E3 teaser images. Is it just me, or were there more of these last year?
- XenGamers has translated a Q&A with Masatsuka Saeki, the VP of Sony, who fields questions about the success of the Playstation and PS2.
- Also translated at XenGamers is a Q&A with Satoru Iwata of Nintendo.
- One of Nintendo's GameCube promotional flyers for E3 leaked out yesterday, and scans have made their way online (better closup shots available here). Of note from this thing is the previously unannounced Wario World, the "new eyes" on the 2D Link (although they don't look that different to me), and the announced but unseen Mario Party 4 and a listing for the 56k modem as "coming soon."
- To go along with that modem listing is a story at Reuters where an "industry source" says Nintendo will announce their online strategy at E3. To which my response is "what online strategy?" Maybe Nintendo isn't as clueless as we think?
- Microsoft has launched the official site for Brute Force, the upcoming FPS from Digital Anvil.
- Here are some new shots from Pinball of the Dead, the demented GBA game from Sega's Wow Entertainment.
- And finally, Kemco has announced an MP3 player for the GBA. Why bother making one? Because they can.

Too me it seems like the best game EVAR! And Square said they are reaching for a release this year on PC. That's the version I'm getting, but I guess you people like consoles more.. :)
