Soldier of Fortune 2 Test

So the Soldier of Fortune 2 multiplayer test will be released today. It should be out in an hour or so. Gamespy Daily has an interview with Raven's Kenn Hoekstra and Rick Johnson, asking what we can expect from this multiplayer test. So where will you play when the demo is released?   • the only one i seriously HATE is how they do recoil. they dont model shit they just make bullets go off in insane directions if you're tagged as not aiming well. how would you model recoil, you ask? operation flashpoint. it tracks the position of your gun, and if you're running and fire, the bullet goes out where its pointing, when you run you are jerking your gun all over. unlike in rogue spear or rainbow six, when you run the reticule goes wild telling you that you're not aiming well. and if you fire it just randomly sprays the bullets hitting the floor, wall, roof, etc. so many times ive come around a corner and tried to aim at someone RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and fired a burst and hit the fucking floor and ceiling and shit. when you fire a weapon in op flash your gun "jumps". you auto level it again but if you were to fire before you did, you would fire up. no firing at the fucking wall next to you or anything. your gun isnt just hooked to your body in a series of animations that its been run though, its like a real object.









  • This "test" has proven to be quite fun indeed! The movement is slow but it doesn't take long to get used to it, and the guns are fantastic. I am very glad that the sniper rifle does the limited damage that it does! I'm sick of all these games with lame camper snipers with no skills raking up frags and shit. When I started playing this, I didn't think the weapons were very balanced, but after playing for an hour, you realize that a lot of the weapons are pretty well balanced as they are. The grenades really do spice things up... they make a great addition to the multiplayer experience by adding some mayhem to the recipe (it also helps to keep you a little bit more on your toes). I sincerely hope the sniper doesn't get changed or made more powerful, because it will just turn into another lame sniper fest game (for you people who like to do nothing but find a good hiding spot with good visibility to snipe people, you have enough OTHER games where you can do that). Can we at least keep ONE company game of this type of genre free from being a sniper game? JUST ONE GAME DAMNIT! DIBS ON SOLDIER OF FORTUNE 2! The game is so much funner with everyone on the move. And besides, you can still snipe kill a lot of people, but this time it's not an easy llama way to rack up frags.

    Also I expected more gore and blood and body parts from a Soldier of Fortune title, but I guess this is a beta test, and Raven got lots of flak for the violence factor in SoF anyway so maybe they had to turn it down. I'm not sure, but at least I still got to blow people's heads off :D

    Oh and also, single player should be TEH WIN.
