Hey I have a whole bottle of Tension and Mood One-a-Day herbal pills here.. anybody want some?
>=)
You may live in the USA, but this is the internet.
#77 - \"Shambler could spend his whole life trying to expound it\'s greatness\" Ha. Fucking. Ha. Oh the hilarity. If you\'d read my posts, you\'d see I was not trying to expound any greatness, I was just criticising those who have closed minds and who\'s only purpose on this board is to flame Ion/DKT (not criticise, not point out negative aspects, but just flame).
........................................................................
And now the real issues:
#77 - \"There are millions of people who will put you down....\" More like about a handful or so on these forums I think.
\"How many single-player FPS games are in the works?\" Excellent point to prove Daikatana\'s potential virtues, well made though perhaps a bit too subtle for most....the answer is, lots that I can think of. But the real question is: \"How many single-player FPS games are coming out this Christmas?\". Assuming the release goes as planned, only Daikatana that I know of - certainly other major single player FPS titles like Amen, DN4Ever, Prey, Wheel of Time, etc etc, won\'t be coming out for a while. Leaving Daikatana a free rein over single player FPS gaming this winter, I\'d say....pretty lucky timing.
#78 - \"ION have allowed their daily operations to become a sordid saga of theatrics\" Sorry I disagree with that, I think it\'s almost entirely down to how people (the scandal hungry sites and hysterical gamers) have reacted to what\'s happened at Ion. It\'s perfectly possible to see what I going on, and think \"Oh more ppl left, that\'s a pity\" or \"Romero will make me his bitch will he? heh, silly advert\" rather than having an utter screaming fit over it and condemning the game just because of some overinflated scandal which only has any importance in the minds of people who think it\'s a really big issue. I\'ve seen all the hype and bitching, the only thing I didn\'t ignore and forget immediately, was staff leaving, because I though that sucked because it would delay the game. Everything else, well I just don\'t care....and to be honest I can\'t understand why other people care, unless it\'s part of the general tackiness and pettiness of a human society that thrives on trivialities and titillation.
Comments about the shots?? Good points....maybe some things you said are flaws....though to be honest they didn\'t worry me that much. I think the prisoners are something to do with a riot, maybe they have just stopped brawling cos\' you\'ve got they\'re attention with a little gunfire?? The weapon skin - I suggest you look at Quake weapons again, as that looks far more detailed than any Quake weapon ever did (not saying it looks that great, doesn\'t look much like a specific weapon and it\'s definitely *penile* but it no way looks like Quake). The lighting, well look to the right of the image, and you can just see the edge of a doorway which is also lighting that courtyard....though the V shadow about the neon light looks too sharp. I agree about the roofs thing in the Ep3 shot, more variety would be nice, but I think that scene looks rather nice anyway. The \"scaly\" skin thing is a, well, I guess it\'s a like/hate thing as it\'s so distinctive - I personally like it, though I can imagine people thinking it looks weird. One thing is certain, it\'s certainly an original style and different to any other skinning style out there.
Oh yeah, I am too...Well I, um, guess it is sorta interesting...
#52 - \"Even if DK was the best thing since sliced bread, I wouldn\'t buy it because\" ROFL I don\'t even need to answer anything you said after that little comment. You\'d deny yourself an \"great game\" just because of some petty little war between you and Ion and some more open-minded people who don\'t hate them like you do?? Do you have *any* idea how astonishingly pathetic that is?? I guess some people don\'t care less about games and are more interesting in being dicks...
#61 - Yeah right these people are expressing honest, heartfelt opinions. And not just mindless, illconsidered, baseless insults to cause offence and trouble. No. Not at all. Sorry but if you can\'t see the narrow-minded hate campaign by some people, I can\'t be bothered to point it out.
#62 - No I don\'t review movies....or games (I review levels though, and I\'m fucking good at it). I just happen to be able to give intelligent criticisms and praise about aspects of games, rather than just insults directed towards a game that isn\'t out, a company that isn\'t actually harming any of the people flaming it, and people who are broadminded enough not to follow the Ion-hating herds.
#72 - <heavy sarcasm> Aaaah yes let\'s just look at this, another classic example of a well balanced posts with some carefully thoughtout criticisms, presented in a fair and open-minded manner... </hs>
........................................................................
Bullet: I\'m gonna ignore the insults (you make some interesting points that don\'t need the \"Shambler is a freak\", \"Shambler is the biggest ass here\" bullshit, K?), but there\'s one thing I\'m kinda worried about. You say quite rightly that all of what goes on now is just bullshit and all that matters is when the game gets released and it\'s good or bad?? Okay, yes. Furthermore, the people on the net who are slagging off Ion and prejudiced from the start, in the grand scheme of things, they mean precisely \"dick\" - because the majority of the market for games is still offline, where there won\'t be all this flamage, and people can approach the game from an unbiased point of view. But....where do offline people get their information from??? Gaming mags. And what direction are gaming mags going??? From what I have seen from UK mags, they are sucking up more and more to the online aspect of gaming, because they think it\'s cool and great and everyone is doing it so they have to as well. Which means, they might get tainted by all the crap around Ion and Daikatana - not all the crap on these boards, but just general things from gaming sites - delays, reports of staff departures and troubles, the KC \"scandal\", the subtle apathy of some gaming sites. Thus, *they* might become predjudiced against DKT before reviewing and reporting in on it. Already I\'ve seen a quote in PCGamer whining about DKT\'s delays and expressing apathy towards in a similar fashion to the usual comments on the net. So perhaps there is a worry that the information the majority of the market gets will not be as fair as it should be??
yeah, i know how to reduce fractions, it was a joke people...lighten up...
guf is making history?...give me a break...he\'s making a game...come back to reality...actually, stay away...
i was looking at a DK screenshot today and a guy i work with asked me what game it was from and that is when i realized i had no idea how to pronounce daikantana (or spell im sure)...i was like \"its daik...daika...daikintanna..no...daikiawakatuki...uh...i dont know what its called...\"
heh, well, seems we agree on something ;) My \"little world\" is much more pleasant if you don\'t rip on people you have never met and know nothing about. I started work at Ion almost three months ago, and there are quite a few very hard-working people here busting ass on Daikatana. They\'ve been through an aweful lot, and it pisses me off to hear people slag on them. People like different things... if you don\'t like Daikatana, that\'s your thing. But all these comments about \"choking on dick\" and shit about our work ethic are fucking lame. What do you know about my work ethic or my teammates\' work ethic?
The \"self importance\" comment was in reference to the \"I\'m-a-gaming-industry-insider\" tone I think you kind of have. Sorry if I\'m way off there.
you suck to me, in my own opinion
i tried the mplayer demo of DK and it sucked. hahahahahha!!!!!!
it\'s funny when people cap on DK you insult them, and tell them to lists their reasons. but if someone says \"i like DK\" where are you to insult them and ask what they like about it?
hehehe. Death2Uall gets this one.\"
My god that is too rich. Perhaps I should have bolded that or put up the sarcasm tags so that EVERYONE would know that it was a joke.
But dammit Bullet, you had to go and ruin it. *sigh*
Kudos though, you got my profile half right. The \"grad\" part is correct, I am a grad student. But the \"mad\" part means that I am either
a: Angry
b: Insane
And #47. I looked at those new shots, and I can\'t belive you like the lighting there. I never thought I\'d tell anyone this but...*gulp* Go play more *retch* Quake3. *hack*
Oh and as far as bad AI goes, just look at the very first shot in 47\'s post. What are the enemies doing? Just standing there, and some of them are walking into each other! That\'s Q2 quality AI all the way baby!
no!!!!!
:(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
btw, i am the president of the united states
