  • Guys. Here's an important tip for global ops.

Be SURE to turn the texture detail up as far as possible. The game has great texturing.

Also, for some inexplicable reason, the game DEFAULTS to 16-bit z-buffer, even in 32 bit color. This means lots of crazy flickering of object edges in the distance, and the maps are large, so this happens a lot. To change this setting:

    Make sure

    "zbitdepth" "24"

is set in your .cfg file under global ops\profile

That was a biggie for me, and I'm totally relieved that they at least have this setting for us to edit... no idea why the default is screwed up like that. The only remaining pet peeve, for me, is that the lightmaps (shadowmaps) appear to be 16-bit. That is, there's lots of gradient banding when the gamma is turned up a bit.

Played some more tonight. STILL FUN! I was a counter-strike addict for almost 2 years, so I know the sweet, sweet feeling of crack when I taste it. GO BUY THIS GAME PEOPLE!
