Black & White 2 Details
by Steve Gibson, Mar 29, 2002 11:23am PSTSome of the first details on Black&White2 have emerged over at PCZ. It sounds like they are going to focus things a bit more on the combat side of things introducing wacky stuff like batallion commanders. The ultimate goal being to keep the player entertained longer than 1 hour. But dont forget your monkey!
Your creature is still going to be playing a major role in Black & White 2, and you'll be able to develop him to help you in your cause, whether you're trying to circulate the peace pipe to all the tribes, or sending them wailing, weapon-wielding villagers. Lionhead will also be including new miracles, and perhaps, most importantly, will be making the line between evil and good actions more clear via an on-screen mechanism. Apparently the developer is also planning to have the environment alter depending on your good or bad deeds. Here are the reviews on the original Black&White

but yeah, it's collecting dust on my shelf. It did have some pretty cool moments, though, especially when at 3:00 in the morning, I'm playing, getting a little freaked out when it whispers "death", and then nearly jumping out of my seat when it whispers my name :-)
It wasn't perfect, it was fatally flawed, IMO (I didn't finish it), but it wasn't like it was the worst game that came out that year or anything.
They should've done something like make an FPS with that kind of AI. Very few enemies, but make them smart and tough to kill... that'd be interesting, I think. Only question would be processing power for that kind of AI...

First one was fun for a little while... until it took them like 3 months to patch the damn thing and fix the quests so it was ok to play the last level without screwing over your creature... bleh
Good graphics and technology... but man, the game got boring after a while... REAL boring.
So yah, I think I'll be passing on this one.

Mango didn't like that one bit.
if they add that and a few other bits into B&W2, it might just last longer than 3 days :)

Yea, I think the "peace pipe" circulated Lionhead Studios a little too much during th development of B&W1 ;)
