I pretty much dont watch TV with the exception of a couple of shows and Conan, so it's a strange feeling watching something else, but luckily Andy is recognizable so it's not too uncomfortable. Maybe if I talk about TV enough on the website my cable bill is a tax write off? Hmmmm....

You could easily draw the same conclusion with Polish or German or Irish immigrants when they first came to the USA. You could say they were forced into cheap labor with harsh conditions and no benefits.

i was really depressed for about a year and living at home after overcoming some drug problems that. however, i was fucked up for about 4 years before that, and had completely lost my self image and socil skills. i still had a bunch of friends that i had known from pre-high-school years, but never made any new ones. after some therapy, about a year of anti-depressants, and lots of exercise, i felt i was no longer depressed.
then i moved away to work for 4 months, and didn't make *any* friends except the guys i worked with.
now, in january, i went to school in a new city and was living on my own for the first time. from january to mid-march, i had made no friends and was very lonely. but i was valiant and didn't lower myself into the dark world of the depressed; i learned to care about myself and how to enjoy myself, even if it was without much social interaction. i found solace in books, music, and computers.
welp, these last few weeks i've made about 5 new friends and finally managed to get out and talk to people. my confidence is at an all time high and i've finally spent some time in someone else's room (it's nice to be invited somewhere after not having been in so damn long). i also had someone knock briefly and barge into my room today, and after the initial shock ("what if i was jerking off?" :) ) wore off, i was *happy*. after so long without having someone take liberties with me, it feels good for someone to acknowledge my existence by barging into my room. i also had an opportunity to go and work out with a bunch of guys today, but i have to finish this damn assignment (which i should be doing now but i have to get this message out :P ).
the conclusion is this: note your self worth and strive to accept it. you, too, can enjoy life and all its pleasures. depression is a trap that you must escape and put behind you. life outside of the bleakness *does* exist and is waiting for you to go out and find it...
as a side note, after being down for so long, its nice to be able to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, like that wonderful feeling when im in the shower and i scrub my feet between my toes.
next goal: i am going to quit smoking. im not a heavy smoker and it is definitely possible but the lure keeps dragging me back in...
