Embrace the Love
by Steve Gibson, Mar 26, 2002 12:18pm PSTOk, as it's only fair and because things are just so exciting today, now it seems appropriate to share today all the things you love about the latest trends in the industry as compared to things you hate. I know you can do it, everyone loves something in the gaming industry, that's why we're all here together! I'll start again:
- The proliferation of multiplayer as a market of its own, no longer an afterthought of most developers - I love the technology curve. Almost everything keeps getting cheaper and faster - Keeps growing! More gamers, more choices, more diversity - A few developers still get "in the trenches" and associate with their fans. Unlike other industriesSo what do you love? Keep in mind, the focus is on the gaming/tech industry. You leave the topic your comment will be marked as such, check out your filters.

So we gamers really reap the benefits of having multiple systems. Each company will try to sell their wares to us and the result is great games coming from all directions in the next year.

1. Several of us over at Tech-report.com irc were discussing HalfLife. I remarked that it was based on the Quake 1 engine. There was a virtual riot over this. They all thought it was the Quake 2 engine. I emailed Gabe Newell at Valve and HE ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE QUESTION. That may seem minor, but can you imagine getting an answer back from Bill Gates about MS Office?
2. I love the fact that if I have a problem with my computer, there are countless websites where I can find an answer. One simple Google search and I can find tons of people with similar problems and the steps they used to fix it. I haven't had to contact a tech support line in years.

I love the stability of most games now.
I love genuine inovation.....with a weighty plot.(Friends and I really had a blast with Max Payne).
I love highly interactive environments involving no fogging (Operation Flashpoint).
I love games.
I love the community.
Okay, some people hate it for the whiners, but the fact is I might not be playing CS if not for that. When you have a group of friends on a server nothin beats hearing them yell, curse, swear and bark orders like a brit :)
