Westwood's Next

i dont know ppl become so anal about games that keep using the same names and concept, they want it or they dont want it. Personaly from waht i see, most games out there that use the same ol shit are the ones that are usually succesful, its not like the movies at all. Look at id, they make a certain style of game for a certain community, blizzard also, and so does westwood. I see alot of ppl complain that ww should change it to blizzard style, if they do that then it will just be a clone and it will make the company look bad. You think age of empire will copy blizzard nope. You think ww either nope. You think id will copy epic nope, and so on and so forth. Btw its good that they use the same name in a business perspective, pure marketing. Its better to advertise something established and somewhat "credible and great" than to bring a totally new name and hope it will work out. Look at final fantasy over kill but its a different game each time, but the core game elements are still there.

Red Alert was one of MY first PC games (had played others but it was the first game I loaded up on My Box). I loved it. Holy shit I loved it. The story sucked me in, I loved the cheesy cut scenes, etc. I had some bitches - shitty multiplayer - tank rushes == too powerful.

After I was really into RA - a friend gave me his old C&C cds. Ugh. Horrible resoultion and I just hated the pace of the game. I thought engys were too powerful (as they are in RA2) but Ive always known I was in the minority. Then came TS which I picked up due to my great love of RA. Well, I thought it blew. Unfortunatly, it was stolen before I was able to give it much of a chance (id love to play it these days). When RA2 came out, I was overly jaded due to the hardcore TS suckage and RA2 blew me away. Overall, I decided I just got more into the story line. Yuri's revenge added some great multiplayer stuffs and added some more kick ass missions. I just recently (2-3 mos) winged myself off of RA2 for the 3rd time.

Point in short: I voted for RA3 (as has the majority of people)

why not make the missing link game, that links RA and C&C
(tho i believe kane showed up in one of the RA cinematics)

i enjoyed ra2, im now enjoying renegade, plus its running fine on my old athlon 700 geforce sdr, dont know about empereor

Bleh... how could anyone want another Red Alert game? That game is so ridiculous... Sonic Dolphins?? Cyber-Squids with Mind Control? WTF is that gay shit? Why don't they just put in some clowns and the HamBurgler and make the idiocy complete?

Some people say Red Alert 2 was fun... and maybe it was... because I didn't play it for more than an hour because the whole notion of 90% of the units was so stupid. Bah!

Stick with realism. I'd be happy if there was never another Red Alert game. Red Alert 1 was ok... I was willing to go with them on giant Tesla Towers mixed with WW2 air planes... but you have to draw the line somewhere.

So, my vote is of course Tiberian Twilight... whatever that is. As long as it doesn't contain Mind Controlling Swamp-Harpies, I'll be happy.

As for people bitching at Westwood for not making something different... WTF? Renegade? I'd say that was pretty different... I'm ready for the next RTS game from them... Westwood makes good RTS games (for the most part), and that's what I want to play from them.

game developers: "well.. we could make something new and innovative.. but it might flop, and we'd rather not take that chance. So lets continue making sequels to games that were successful!"

I hope it will be the Twilight game with Tiberian Sun gameplay. I dislike the Red Alert 2 style (funny, fast, ...). I want a serious conflict...

They need to work on the NOD single player expansion for Renegade.

Wow... Being someone who typically has completely different ideas about game design as most people I talk to, I am surprised to find that all of the comments (pretty much) on this post are saying "Make none of the above", when I was gonna post something about whether or not their poll has an option to tell them to make something NEW.

You'd think they were Valve or something. (heh... still got a joke in).

Dear Westwood,

Please take your time and add some innovation to the solid gameplay that I'm sure will be in your upcoming RTS titles. I love the C&C/RA series, but everything gets old eventually. It would be an even better idea to take a break from the C&C series and try something new. Oh sure I eventually want C&C Twilight and RA3, but I'd like to see them with some true gameplay advancements. Try your hand at something new first, experiment, take some risks, and then take the best parts of those games and mesh them with the solid basic gameplay and story of the C&C games. Also, it's time to go to a true 3D engine.

Now, if Westwood insists on making C&C Twilight or RA3 right now, then I would prefer C&C Twilight. I actually prefer the RA series, but RA2 just came out and Sun left a bad taste in my mouth.

Actually, if you read the article on Gamespot, you'll see that it's not actually Westwood themselves that are working on Generals.

I just wish Westwood would stop making RTS's. Everytime i get hyped up, but everytime is completely fails to deliver.

Stop it Westwood, let me enjoy my Warcraft 3 addiction in peace....

Just work on GENERALS and nothing else!
