C&C Generals Unveiled

by Maarten Goldstein, Mar 08, 2002 3:53pm PST

Gamespot has posted the promised First Hours of C&C Generals article, looking at Westwood's latest Command and Conquer RTS. The new game, which is in 3D, is set 20 years in the future and finds the US and China fighting against a rogue state. The First Hours article goes over the entire pre-production period, coming up with the story, the fairly brief development time of the title, mission planning and plenty of other things. As expected, the article has various screenshots from the game. A preview of the game will be posted by Gamespot on Monday. update Steve: Holy shit. I wanna play that!

  • Well, after reading that article on Gamespot, I'm really really looking forward to this game. I love the modern-warfare idea. I really didn't like how silly Red Alert 2 was... mind control? squids? dolphins or some shit... I dunno, it was just gay.

I want to use tanks and attack choppers and stuff! That's what I liked about the original C&C, and C&C2. I must say that I had pretty much lost my faith in Westwood after Red Alert 2, and how silly the unit design was. But C&C:Generals is looking pretty damn promising... I'm really looking forward to hearing more about it.

I say stick with the realistic warfare theme, and ditch the stupid sci-fi prism-tesla-squids-with-party-hats crap.
