Activision has released a demo for Star Trek: Bridge Commander, the space simulation game which puts you in control of your own Starfleet starship. The demo is 109.8mb in download size, you can grab the file from Fileshack, 3D Gamers, Activision or Fileplanet. Bridge Commander went gold yesterday and should hopefully be released later this month.

  • my mini-review

gameplay: great what little there was in the demo (as others have said it was pretty much a tutorial).
interface: incredibly intuitive. Derek Smart take heed!
sound: very good from what I could ascertain (laptop speakers holding me down)
graphics: they do the job. unlike other people I didn't think they detracted at all from the game (maybe I've just been battle-hardened by BCM)
atmosphere: beyond just the sum total of gfx + sound, it really was immersive and did a good job replicating (what I imagine) it would be like to comandeer a spacecraft.

bottomline? highly recommended, and that's from a non-trekkie. but I definately hope they release another more substantial demo. Good as it was, I can't envision buying the game solely based on this.
