Too bad it turned about to be another crappy Star Trek game

I had a lot of fun playing this. Yes, the lipsynching sucked, and the graphics out in space were sub-par (xwing alliance and Frespace both look way better, and those games are 2+ years old)

but the interface was great, and it was good clean fun.

Does this play on PC's WITHOUT 3d acceleration?

wow, that was a lot of fun. it's like the tactical mode from final unity on crack. it needs some polish, and some better explosions, but it was really excellent

my mini-review


gameplay: great what little there was in the demo (as others have said it was pretty much a tutorial).
interface: incredibly intuitive. Derek Smart take heed!
sound: very good from what I could ascertain (laptop speakers holding me down)
graphics: they do the job. unlike other people I didn't think they detracted at all from the game (maybe I've just been battle-hardened by BCM)
atmosphere: beyond just the sum total of gfx + sound, it really was immersive and did a good job replicating (what I imagine) it would be like to comandeer a spacecraft.

bottomline? highly recommended, and that's from a non-trekkie. but I definately hope they release another more substantial demo. Good as it was, I can't envision buying the game solely based on this.

wow .. last star trek game (that let you sim space battles) i played was "25th Anniversary" on my 486DX33 ... this was actually really fun. graphics bad? don't really care.

Ugh! The graphics are worse than I could have expected! FUGLY. I hope this is just because of the demo. The gameplay is good so far though.

Well, that was pretty fucking cool. Felt a lot like TNG, especially the first officer's monologue at the close of the demo.

My quick review:
Gameplay: FUN! It's like being captain!
Sounds: Awesome
Plot/hokeyness: great! It's not lame like voyager was (*RUN*)
Inteface: PERFECT. I could think of no better way to order around the starship
Graphics: ASS SUCKY. The lip syncing is the worst I've seen, they shouldn't have bothered. The stars are super-patterned, not seamless at all. The ships and starbases look cool though, but a lot of your time is on the bridge, and the people just look like ass.

Buy?
Maybe, have to see the full game.

Wow the music is very good. The graphics, while not great, serve their purpose. The dialouge is very good, and the "tutorial" was super well done. Try this out it doesnt suck that bad!
