- The new smoke grenades are really nice without being a framerate killer.
- The new Rommel map kicks ass, as it has added a lot more routes around the level and the screaming noise when you jump from the tower rocks.
- The laser sight is neat. It follows the crosshair all the time (even in follow mode) where the previous version used to lag a bit. The effect you get when it goes through fog, smoke, or water is sweet.
- The assorted new sounds and models are pretty nice.
- I haven't played around with the guns enough to notice all the differences, but I appreciate the sniper rifle accuracy changes. Previously, they were just as accurate when not zoomed in, and assholes were putting dots on their monitor with a marker to snipe without zooming. Now you have to be zoomed to be accurate.
- The night vision effect no longer sucks. Previously it was a cheese way to suddenly spot people all the time, now it's harder to run around the level with them always on (but also easier to identify team members).
I found my q3a case the other day so i had a CDkey, and i had heard some about this mod.. fired it up, played for a few days... Got owned, but had fun. Lots of fun. helpful players -helping the newb out.
Then i got ahold of some old friends who happen to play the game. He send me his config so i could actually SEE again.
Now i'm faily good at this mod, after a week.. and the FUN FACTOR keeps increasing. Very solid community. Impressive maps. Nice 'flow'. I see good things coming from this mod dev team. Great work so far guys, you picked up a new follower.
(haven't played 2.4 yet being that i'm still at work - but i just thought i'd share for all of you people who have uninstalled q3. this mod is pretty decent. Also q3f 2.0 should be out soon [as someone mentioned earlier, i can't wait for THAT.])
Also, i tried CS for a few months and hated the community behind that game. You'll find less kids and downright haters (i loathe that word, but it applys here) in q3ut.
