Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Jan 17, 2002 5:41pm PSTStill fine tuning the Shack CS servers with map rotations and settings, 3 of them are online now but we're still waiting on the DFW server to be ready. Will have a public server status page for you guys to check out hopefully by this weekend. Oh, we'll debut the new "Late Night Theatrics" post tonight at 10.30 for movie discussions in place of Jason's Late Night Consoling which he takes Thursday off. It'll be fun! Here is stuff:
- Between stints of cheating on his wife, looks like Jesse Jackson got around to allegedly rouging some people up. - This is just plain strange. Story about hockey kid killing dad. - Aw man, the only reason I watched figure skating. They are banning crotch shots! - Guess they are trying to block people from pirating TV stuff now? Is it pirating if the commercials are still in there? - The return of SpiderGoat!Lastly, yeah the webserver is choking and dying. You can stop emailing us about random DB lock errors etc. We're pushing more traffic than ever right now and it aint pretty. For you l00nix geeks we have loads of 5-6 on average spiking up to 17-20 every day. Working as fast as we can to get the new hardware in place.

2. Science is empirical in the sense that it is concerned with phenomena that can be observed, or at least measured.
3. Science is cumulative, because it tentatively accepts previously established knowledge on a subject as the foundation for development of further knowledge. One can challenge existing knowledge, but it is not neccessary to restablish the knowledge base everytime.
4. The method of science is testable. Its practitioners, "scientists", specify the assumptions, data, analytic techniques, and inference patterns that support their knowledge claim. They look for some analysis or evidence that would invalidate ("falsify") the claim. Other scientists evaluate all aspects of the claim and can repeat the analysis to ensure that everyone reaches the same conclusion.
This is my religion.

What can I say.....this woman is bringing it. From the tight tummy to the freshly shorn shrub to the exquisite toe display case, the overall presentation is breathtaking. She's got more toe than the undertow at the beach in the background. The lifeguards should issue a TOE ADVISORY. She deserves a cabinet position in the "Bush" administration.
I have a small issue with the choice of nailpolish color. But that is like complaining about the glove compartment in a Ferrari. I can also tell by the way she is looking at me that she digs me. She cannot help it. They all do.

Another GTA3 trick i didn't now :-)
The Yardie Lobo is one excellent car, because of the fact that it has usable
hydraulics! Yep, you can rock the car back and forth, make it bounce forward
and backwards, and make it higher by pushing the car on top of its wheels.
CONTROL------------------>ACTION
L3 (push)---------------->Lift the car/lower the car
RIGHT STICK left--------->Rock the car to the left (driver's side wheels)
RIGHT STICK right-------->Rock the car to the right (passenger side wheels)
RIGHT STICK up----------->Bounce the car forward (toward the ground)
RIGHT STICK down--------->Bounce the car backward (toward the sky)

turings proof of the halting problem says that the program which detects halting can only have two outputs: halting, or going into an infinite loop. Why is this? Couldn't the "halting detector" program give text outputs, or something?
because a "halting detector" program that consistently halts and only gives text output (without ever going into an infinite loop itself) relies on the same assumptions as turing's proof's TM, except it gives the opposite results as his proof.
