ATI's R300
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 14, 2002 8:26am PSTThe Inquirer has posted some details about ATI's upcoming R300 chipset with DirectX9 support. This should be their NVidia N25 (GeForce 4) killer, while the RV250 should beat the N17. Besides being faster (though NVidia hasn't even announced the GeForce 4), ATI is also saying their card should be cheaper. Samples of the chipset go out to ATI partners in about 2 weeks. Thanks NukeDukem.

Until they offer MORE speed for LESS money I won't do it.
I don't care if they offer close to the same speed - they MUST be number 1, lacking not ONE nvidia feature (per pixel wank wank - that kind of thing)
I want to have a video card that can run what all the competition can run at the same time (era)
Hence lets ASSUME the ATI 300 is designed for Doom3 and the GF4 also is.
I would _EXPECT_ both cards will have IDENTICAL features within the game - neither lacking any features and close image quality.
Then, based on speed I decide which one to purchase - simple as that.
AMD have now "changed the flow" for me - I will _NOT_ buy an intel cpu, until I can get faster than an AMD for LESS money.
I'm loyal to no company just my wallet and my frame rates.
damn it, Im about to go to consoles man.
these 6-8 month cycles are fucking killing me financially

If I am to ever buy an ATI product they'll have to firstly prove they can support their products, even to 50% of the support nVidia provides. Until then I'll keep buying my overprices nVidia products as at least I know I'll get manufacturer support for more than 3 months for my new card.

I can claim that my left testicle can render games faster than a GF4, but we all know that's not true...

I was considering waiting for a ti200 to come down in price / release of .13 micron athlons.
Now because of all these press releeases I'm waiting for the GF4 or new ATI one :)
