Late Night Consoling

I'm still not sure what game I think I'm leaning towards Grand Theft Auto III for now, but I could switch to either Shenmue II or ICO at any minute. So many games to choose from! If I'm still game-less by Friday, I'm going to jump head-first into Final Fantasy X. And then everything will be simple for awhile.

Console Game of the Evening: Out of this World for SNES, 3DO, Genesis, PC and Mac. It may not look like much now, but when it came out, this game rocked. I remember being totally blown away by the unique visual style it used. The gameplay's still the same, but jaded gamers may scoff at its old-school graphics.

    Some ideas for GTA4:

    - Motorcycles. Make them Banshee fast and low armor (of course). If you crash, you fly fifty feet across. Imagine jumping a ramp and hitting a truck head on, watching your guy become Superman. Classic.

    - Taxi hostage. If you carjack a taxi with a passenger, the driver is thrown out but the passenger remains. That way even if you have 4-6 stars the police would not try to fishtail you off of the road because of the civilian. Definitely would help escapes in dire situations.

    - Rocket Launcher Drive Bys. We beg. Please.

    - More mafia help. The mission with the gang war was super fun because of the chaos. Maybe have the guy start out with two or three helpers/bodyguards ala Dynasty Warrior 3.

    - Call for back up. If you're part of a certain gang and on someone else's turf, give an ability to page members of your gang to assist in protection/attack.

    I'm sure there could be more.. but those are just a few that popped into my head.
