Acording to this story on ZDNet, Intel will introduce the latest Pentium 4 CPUs on Monday. The new 2.0 and 2.2Ghz "Northwood" chips are made using a 0.13-micron manufacturing process which means they are smaller, cheaper for Intel to make, and they also boast 512KB of cache unlike the 256KB of current Pentium 4 CPUs.

  • Actually, this is funny..I hadn't thought of this, but Intel HAS TO bump up there GHz speeds. Why? SO THEY CAN CATCH UP TO AMD'S PERFORMANCE AND CHARGE TWICE AS MUCH!!
    Disclamer:
While some of this view expressed may be my opinion, there is no denying the facts. AMD is the better performer in general. Even with lower clock speeds then the newest Intel chips, AMD still out performs them in benchmarks. Why? Because AMD realises that Performance is the key to a great chip. Hence the reason they have changed there name to "XP". Imagine the day that AMD releases there chips running on the same FAB as Intel at the same clock speed. You think that Intel could match the performance of that AMD chip? Not unless they do some major improvments to there tech.
