Napster 2.0 Preview
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 03, 2002 6:13am PSTI see on /. that Napster has put up a preview of their new MP3 sharing client which they'll be releasing later this year. However, since two other MP3 pay services already have a negligible amount of users, how does Napster expect to make money?

The people who pay for memberships are the same people who will be sharing Perry Como, Julio Iglesias, and Zamphir. I'll stick to piracy and buying overpriced cd's thank you. FUCK YOU RIAA!
Napster has a name
When it goes live they send a press release and every god damn newspaper in the world will carry a napster story about how the bad boy has changed
thats amazing free press

However, I think Napster could make a profit if somehow they'd focus on advertising a lot and/or they'd be endorsed a lot by some celebrities/association/tv show. This coupled with "Stealing music is VERY VERY bad mmmmkay?" propanganda could make them winners.
Simple. The name itself. Im not saying that this will succeed, but computer illiterates across the world know the name "Napster".
