Unreal Tournament 2 Scans
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 02, 2002 1:04pm PSTPlanet Unreal has posted four scans from the French gaming magazine Joystick, showing a preview of Unreal Tournament 2. The game was first rumored to be in development back in December and this seems to confirm Digital Extremes is indeed working on it. The screenshots are looking very much like the Xbox game Unreal Championship, also in development at DE (co-creators of Unreal, Unreal Tournament). Surprise, surprise.

lets hope unreal2/unreal tournament 2/unreal warfare don't suffer from the problems the ut engine had, like muddy textures, low poly models (especially the guns), and the strange floaty feel to the movement. the game was fun, but it was flawed, and coming out a month before quake3 didn't help it's case much.

IMO both companies seem to lack a real imaginative drive on games, however there refinement in the games are very well done.

Looks good, btw.
Hopefully someone with the time and dedication can translate this for us all.
Looks like most shots are outdoors...they may be stressing this.
It actually seems like more outdoor-esque games are being released right now--which is probably a good thing. Nature is really hard to create using polygons...any work centered around it will likely improve it immensely.
