3dfx on Voodoo4 Delay
by Steve Gibson, Sep 24, 1999 8:53am PDTSharkyExtreme sent this quote from Brian Burke of 3dfx which several people have been forwarding around. Not quite sure who Brian originally sent this to since I've seen the entire email posted on a few sites but here you go. Word from 3dfx on the delay of the Voodoo4 Napalm:
"Some of 3dfx Interactive's executives have stated publicly that our next generation product may be delayed until Q1 and may not ship in Q4 in time for Christmas. Because of a few minor setbacks (that have been corrected), the Q4 date is admittedly very aggressive. With a technology product like this, it is not uncommon for unforeseen circumstances to arise in the final stages of product development. As a result, we are steering the public to expect our next generation product in Q1, because we believe this is the most probable result. We are standing by our statements that our next generation product will be head and shoulders above competitor's products and will solidify the technology lead for 3dfx. Additionally, our internal roadmap will maintain that lead for 3dfx well into the future"

If they don\'t reslove that CPU dependency thing with drivers what
is the fucking point? Might as well get the better looking card that
runs at 60 fps. Aren\'t these boards due out like next month? Shit
what a fucking disappointment. But then again 1024 with AA @ 60
sounds like another fucking lie too.
Eh? What technology lead? 32-bit color? 32Mb on-board RAM? Textures larger than 256x256?
(Now where\'s that check Billy? 8)

I don\'t know about other people, but I still believe 3dfx when they claim something about their product. Well, the truth will come out in the end anyway. I think I\'ll still buy the GeForce because having T&L it will last into the future and I can \"pass it on\" to the more needy :)
And MX300 all the way, I was hoping Q3 would have A3D support, this is the one thing that finally puts the MX300 above the SBLive.
:) :) :) :)
And I bet every bloke who now trashes T&L and says its totaly useless will praise it like the gospel once 3dfx has it.

Get this thing to match the main board!
