Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Dec 19, 2001 5:32pm PSTThe ER shows up slightly early this evening since it's LOTR night. I bet it's gonna suck! I'm not quite as stoked about this movie as the woman is (she's such a geek) but it looks like fun.
- Super smart quantum computer! - OH MY GOD FUNNIEST JOKE EVER! - Some guy had his internal organs lost or something? Thanks Meckk - The Segway guy is in motor city selling his goods. - So is WindowsXP actually selling? It's pretty cool...Lastly, this is just freaky beyond belief. Kinda got a couple gross pics too.

I'd have to say All Along the Watchtower. I just can't get enough of it, even though it's overused in films.

Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love this. I was
listening to the radio the other day, and I heard one of the all-time
best comeback lines in my life.
Note: This is an exact replication of National Public Radio (NPR)
interview between a female broadcaster, and US Army General
Reinwald, who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting
his military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to
teach these young boys when they visit your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing,
archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting, that's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on
the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous
activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper
rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent
killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but
you're not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended.
hehe, stupid bitch. GO ARMY!

I give the movie a 9 out of 10 because the movie, albeit very excellent, was not perfect. A General idea of what I value as a perfect movie, Boondock Saints, Snatch and seVen.

Previously the largest computer IBM had built was based on five atoms.
IBM scientists said that they were able to use the computer to show that Shor's algorithm works by correctly identifying 3 and 5 as the factors of 15.
Damn, thats a big computer! and I can only dream of the day when I buy a PC thats powerful enough to identify 3 and 5 as factors of 15

The FBI and the Federal Marshalls office took great glee in catching a man accused of mailing fake anthrax letters to abortion clinics as protest against abortion. http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/12/05/anthrax.abortion/index.html
My questions are 1)why can't they catch the real anthrax sender and 2)why is defending baby-killers such a huge priority for our Federal government?
I love the USA but there are evil forces at work within our government.

Iv'e singled this one out as 'most loopy'
Yet again a film revelling in witchcraft and sorcery bursts onto our screens and draws enormous crowds. What will it take for people in this "Christian" land to realise the revulsion that God feels for such things? How many more children and even adults will now be drawn into experimentation with the occult after first Harry Potter and now Lord of The Rings?
I might sound wacky - I'm sold out for Jesus - but I would challenge any Christian thinking of seeing the film to find one scripture in the Bible where God says it is acceptable or entertaining to watch or partake of magic, witchcraft and sorcery. For the church leaders out there I would repeat the challenge and ask you to stop theologising and moralising - what does God say? What Would Jesus Do? I'm just praying for some more wholesome films like Miracle Maker in 2002.

In my last few seconds of driving like a stupid, young, testosterone-driven idiot, I overtook a van that was stopped in the middle of the road.
Sun was in my eyes, so I didn't see the turn signal until way too late.
Knocked the damn van clean across the road on two wheels. Shortened my Capri by two feet.
I was fine - just bruised by my seatbelt. The driver was fine, but his eight year-old son was thrown into the footwell at 40mph.
It almost made me believe in God -- the two of them were driving home from the sports shop, where Dad had treated son to his first full football outfit.
His son was wearing the whole thing - pads, helmet, et al, and was completely unhurt.
Then, I discovered that my insurance had expired four days previously ...

its a fascinating read for anyone who ever played it. it explains a lot about what was going on and why TSR sucked so much.
Its a shame that most of them are slot-1 pentium III's.
1935 will go down in History! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient and the world will follow our lead to the future!
Note: This passage sometimes features different punctuation and slight wording changes including a beginning of, ‘For the first time in history, a....’ Various citations include: Adolf Hitler, April 15, 1935, in address to the Reichstag; Adolf Hitler 1935 'Berlin Daily' (Loose English Translation) April 15th, 1935 Page 3 Article 2 by Einleitung Von Eberhard Beckmann -"Abschied vom Hessenland!". "Adolf" is sometimes misspelled as ‘Adolph’ on the Internet.
While the above 'quote' makes a nice T-shirt, there are numerous problems with this alleged statement. (1) It violates the rule of not beginning a sentence with a number. (2) It isnÂ’t phrased in HitlerÂ’s style. (3) Major changes to the German gun laws occurred in 1928 and 1931 (under the Weimar Republic) and in 1938 (under the NaziÂ’s). No significant changes happened in the gun registration laws in 1935. Furthermore, the changes in 1928 and 1931 were designed to disarm the Nazis and Communists and therefore it is doubtful that Hitler would trumpet the success of any law aimed at his goon squads.
