Weekend Movie Review

So we're entering the big holiday movie rush, all kinds of flicks that the woman and I are interested in seeing. Managed to catch a couple of them so far and both were pretty entertaining, although not "I wanna see that again!" type of flicks. Here:

7.95 Vanilla Sky: Surprisingly interesting and entertaining. If you're anal about things "making complete sense" or anything like that you'll hate it, but if you're easy going and want to be entertained, worth checking out. 7.22 Ocean's Eleven: Very typical "the big heist" type of movie where the big revelation is how they choose to try and pull off the robbery. 9.23 Harry Potter: Saw this one a while ago, (twice actually). Never read the book (I cant read) but darn it if this wasnt one of the cutest movies I've seen in a long while. Been really hurting for some fantasy movies.
Stuff I'm looking forward to: LOTR, The Majectic (maybe) , Ali , Tenenbaums, re-release of Glitter (Director's cut!)

    I need someone else who is fluent in Spanish to help me out...

    Cruz only spoke spanish two times, both times "after the split." Granted when she yelled at him it was very quick castillian spanish - but it sounded nonsensical. Like she was just spitting out spanish words. I am pretty sure I heard adios, semana, burrito, and joder. I wasn't paying too close attention at the time - and then when they were in the bar, she was speaking slowly but it still sounded nonsensical. It could have been her accent that I am not used to, but it still sounded made up.

    The point: If she spoke real spanish, that is a big fucking plot hole. How would cruise know spanish? If she spoke nonsensical spanish, then they did a pretty damn good job!

    I went to see vs...

    I would say it has a similar wierdness factor of Magnolia. Frogs fall from the sky - Crazy deam cryo stuff.. Regardless, the movie makes you think but only as you near the end and start to realize that the main character is or might be nuts.

    I'd say it is one of those movies that Movie buffs will like and the average person will dislike or call it marginal. There will be cult followings of this movie one day.

    Rent momento if you want strange make you think movies. Or go see vs during the day when it is half price to ensure you don't pay a lot and hate it.

    Keep in mind if Penelope Cruz has more than 20 lines there's no *way* I'm seeing it. Her accent is annoying to me (and I enjoy watching foreign hotties!).

    Anyway, I heard Not Another Teen Movie was good, but I don't think I'm in the mood for American Pie 3. Scary Movie 1^3 maybe... Hmm.. I better bring a coin and just flip it this time...
