Here's a mini review, I havent played more than 5-6 mins yet so I can't give a full one. I'm testing it on an iPaq 3630 with PocketPC 2002 installed.
Graphics
Great. 98% Perfect, reminds me of a good SNES game. Probably the most graphically impressive game for the PocketPC right now. And I've tried out a lot. Quake 1 does work, but it's rather sluggish and I dare say that this is a better looking game even though it's 2D. Atleast on the PocketPC.
Performance
Runs very fast, no problems anywhere. Most PocketPC titles are choppy or buggy here and there, but this feels like it was optimized for my PDA alright. Menus pop up and go away fast, the map scrolls without any delays.
Controls
Feel very tight. Everything is like it should be IMHO. No complicated solutions, you use your stylus to go to places and you have a use button.
Music/Audio
The music in the 'intro' is good, and the samples have been of high quality. Nothing to complain about here.
Story
Since I've only played for a few minutes it's hard to say, but it seems involving and RPG-ish. Definately feels like a game that will take hours to play. That's good :)
Early conclusion!
All in all it feels to me as this is one of the first *real* games for the PocketPC. Most other games are bad ports of PC versions or just too simple or uninvolving. While it may be fun to play Tetris, it can get tiring.
Good job Monkeystone! I will keep playing and see what happens. I was expecting the game to be good, because I do have trust in Romero and gang (even though I didn't like Daikatana much). So far it has exceeded my expectations. I don't know if it'll start to suck in 10 minutes yet though :)
