  • Played it.

    * Competent level design, occasionally good, never amazing.
    * Typical Q3 engine fare (familiar comfortable physics, lousy lighting) with some extra eye candy (curtains, spider webs). Essentially, Q3 with a tit job.
    * Dull, chiefly linear play. Kill, find next door, etc.
    * Monsters pop out of hiding spots in walls -- ho hum
    * Best use of a knife in an FPS, ever.
    * Zombies/skeletons are dull to fight. Several notches below Blade of Severance in terms of combat, not to mention atmosphere.
    * AI is overrated. A couple of tactical enhancements, such as running behind pillars, but that's about it.
    * Nice moody music -- best feature of the demo.
    * Good integration of cut scenes, especially as zombies besiege Nazis in catacombs.
    * Emotional punch? Some in the first level early on, but it settled into routine pretty quickly. Second level is a fooking bore. As a whole it felt workmanlike, uninspired: if it were a flick, it'd be a B-movie with a fat, over-the-hill Stallone in the lead.

Verdict: "Nazi bitch, you're off my hdd."
