There's an ATI interview on Higherzone, answering 8 questions sent in by the site's readers. The Q's are about the clockspeed of the 8500DV, the licensing of ATI chips to other chip makers, new drivers, widescreen TV support for tv-out, and if they anticipate incompatability with the nForce motherboards. Thanks VE.

  • "ATI is committed to delivering the best end user experience whether it be hardware, software or combination of the two. We have instituted a new beta program to solicit end user feedback and are committed to releasing new drivers for improved performance and quality. Our commitment was demonstrated with the release of our latest driver, with which we improved performance, added features and fixed bugs. We anticipate we will be releasing new beta drivers as well as Microsoft certified drivers on a regular and needed basis."

Another typical marketing spin by ATI. Overpromise and underdeliver seems to be their mantra, does it not? I really want ATI to prove to me that they stand behind their product, the easiest way for them to do that is to establish a track record for timely and productive driver releases. They've had two releases so far for the 8500 with the second boasting an honest performance increase. nVidia needs competition, that's pretty obvious when you see how severely inflated their products prices are at the moment.
