AMD and Intel Chip Dates

According to a news post on The Inquirer, AMD and Intel are both looking to unveil their "fastest CPU evar" in January. On January 7 Intel will release the 2.2Ghz Pentium 4, and right around that time AMD will be releasing their 2000+ Athlon XP.

Hey Intel/AMD. How about developing a new chip that's faster but runs at a lower clock speed, rather than just bumping up the speed of your current chip every 2 months so Joe Q. Moron will think he has the fastest chip out there?

I actually went with the socket 478 850 chipset. Right now I have a P4 1.5. I went this route hoping that the northwood would put Intel back on top. We will see i guess. If it doesn't i will for sure be converting to AMD. Getting tired of paying for less. Later....

Does anyone know the actual speed of the "AMD 2000+"?

people really should put any "2000+" type numbers in quotation marks to indicate that they are marketing bullshit numbers and not tech specs...
