Gameboy Daikatana?
by Steve Gibson, Sep 23, 1999 8:59am PDTAmusing Daikatana story of the day has to go to FGNOnline who recently talked to a Ion Storm representitive about the possibility of the Gameboy color version of Daikatana shipping before the PC version. The N64 version looks like it will ship before the PC version btw. Dig this quote:
"We definitely do not want people thinking that the Game Boy will precede the PC version" an Ion Storm representative said. "As we understand it, the Game Boy version will not be available until March 2000, which will be decidedly after the PC release."

I thought this was joke! You mean they\'re actually going to release Daikatana on Gameboy? That\'s too funny.
I tend to agree with Lex, ION Storm hasn\'t shown jack shit so far. (I know they had one release, but does anyone even remember the name of it?) By the time any of their games hit the market, the market will be selling next-gen titles.
Is anyone really planning on buying Daikatana? I mean really? I played that lame demo awhile back, and even though it\'s been a long time since then, I still have no desire to purchase that game. I just don\'t see the same kind of buzz around Daikatana as there is around Q3 and UT, and I don\'t think there will be, because nobody cares.

Hey gang remember, you dictate who you let control your thinking. It\'s time to expect more. With so many other companies competing for our attention and our cash, we need to be able to tell any given company that we are dissatisfied with what they are doing. We can do that simply by overlooking their product label on the shelf. It\'s that easy!
ION Storm spent millions on advertising and promoting a game that still doesn\'t exist yet. You are their target. Romero even called you \'his bitch\', all the while dangling a game you still cant put your hands on. How much more are you going to take??
Thanks!
-Lex
Sure, it\'s extreme. Romero is acting on behalf of ION Storm, with their approval. We need to speak out and let ION Storm know, specifically John Romero, that what has been going on will not be tolerated anymore. If you want to get ION Storm\'s attention, then don\'t buy any of their products. Or you can continue to be jerked around, called Romero\'s \'bitch\', and be misled with yet another inaccurate release date and still be expected to be there when it comes time to purchase their product with your hard-earned cash. It\'s up to you.
Honestly, it\'s about time.
Thanks!

what are you on crack?
Honestly, whoever is in charge of portability and marketing should be fired immediately. We are tired of being treated like this!! As far as I\'m concerned, I\'ve had it with false starts, mis-planned release dates and now this extra bit about porting to the N-64 and Gameboy when ION\'s largest customer base - PC gamers ahve heard nothing about their product.
No, enough is enough. John Romero, if you want to salvage any of your dignity or retain your PC customers, you need to release DaiKatana to the PC first and immediately (i.e. by October 31st) and be thankful that all of those long hours of hard work only gained you the sale of a few units of your game.
Failure to do the following will result in a complete and company-wide boycott of all products developed or designed by ION Storm. This boycott will be established by the gaming community and will remain in effect until ION Storm can start treating it\'s public like intelligent and valued people. Romero is acting on behalf of ION Storm, so he needs to drop the atitude and insults, drop the false projections, and be thankful that he has any reputation left to salvage. Making a fool out of yourself is one thing, but dragging us down with pompus hype, misinformation, and the lack of any timely product updates is just wrong.
Exercise your power as a consumer! When October 31st arrives, if Daikatana hasn\'t shipped yet, I urge everyone to boycott all ION Storm products and show that you are not going to take it anymore.
Thanks!
