Unreal Tournament 2 Next Year

According to Computer and Video Games, Unreal Tournament 2 is due out next year. While we haven't heard anything about the game until this point, supposedly it's in "an advanced stage, with maybe six months of development still to go". Developer is Digital Extremes, co-developers of Unreal and UT, where work also continues on the Xbox game Unreal Championship.

According to sources, the game looks "considerably" more detailed than the original Unreal Tournament and uses the latest build of what is now known, simply, as the Unreal Engine. Key advances are likely to include vast outdoor environments, extensive particle effects such as sand and smoke, expanded control techniques and a revamp of weapons.

The above almost reads like a description of Unreal Championship, so are we getting a PC port of that game?

I'm only buying this if there are no secret pictures of Cliffy B in the game.

I don't want to shoot some fuggin wall, and go inside a room and look right and there's a big 256x256 texture with Cliffy B doing some kind of J.J. from Good Times' "dy-no-MIIIIIITE" move.

Don't sell me this game if the next day I log on the Net and sites are popping up explaining how to access the secret areas and see Cliffy B in a trench coat and lace stockings. I'm not having it.

sigh. i haven't even played UT1 yet. i have like 3 copies of it on cdrom, just never bothered to load it up. i'm not into multiplayer much. what's the single player like? better than Q3 SP? because that sucked.

So what the hell IS Epic working on?

Legend = Unreal 2 (single player, story based)
DE = Unreal Tournament 2 (mutliplayer DM)
Epic = ??

My guess is Epic is working on a squad/teambased game a la TF2 or CS but with some sort of futuristic theme. But thats only my guess.

This is gonna rox0r my box0rs, sox0rs, cox0rs & jox0rs. There is a fucking BADASS! video somewhere on the net that was released oh about 10 months ago showing outdoor terrain and facial movements on the models, etc. It is recommended viewing if you're into UT. Link anyone?

I didn't mean it as a direct port, I ment that they would most likely be taking the engine enhancments weapons and some modified levels from Unreal Championship and making a PC game.
Since its coming out in 6 months and we haven't heard anything about it, I think they will be borrowing heavily from UC.
