GameCube Sales
by Steve Gibson, Nov 29, 2001 7:54am PSTSome more boasting by Nintendo about stellar GameCube sales figures for their console machine. Looks like they have sold over a half million units already and are continuing to sell out in some locations. Anyone seen an announcement from Microsoft on sales yet?

"Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) has released a report containing estimated sales results for what it termed “Xbox Week”—or as iemag.com interprets it, the seven days that began November 11.
The firm is projecting that Microsoft Corp. moved 370,000 Xbox units in the first two days that the console appeared at retail, and that around 810,000 software units were also sold, for a launch tie-in ratio of 2.2. Of the 21 titles available over the first two days, Halo took the top sales spot selling over 176,000 units.
Because of the number of Xbox bundles offered, Microsoft claimed approximately 57% of the Xbox software market, followed by Electronic Arts, Inc. (11%), Activision, Inc. (over 7%) and THQ Inc. and Take-Two Software, Inc. (under 1%). Microsoft is targeting 30% market share over the long term.
KonamiÂ’s PlayStation 2 game Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was released on November 13. CSFB estimates that 360,000 units of the game were sold that week, making it the top-selling overall videogame regardless of platform.
Electronic Arts saw the biggest week-to-week sales increase among the companies that CSFB covers, buoyed by four Xbox releases and four Harry Potter games. Take TwoÂ’s Grand Theft Auto 3 continued to sell well, moving over 84,000 copies in Xbox Week, bumping it to an estimated 490,026 units moved in the fourth quarter. CSFB estimated that the title sold 205,000 units in its launch week in October."
* Note—all actual sales numbers are CSFB estimates based on NPD TRST data.

i havent played that many cube games, only thps3, super monkey ball and nhl hitz (yea my brother has bad game selection) th3 was fun, but i hated the control so i havent played it much. i liked thps2x better cuz of the control and i dont know why but being able to select your own music makes the game so much more fun.
i didnt really like super monkey ball, so far i think the game is overrated. fusoin frenzy on the other hand is great. i only played the demo, but i brought it to my friends house and we played it all night. that game made my buy a third control and ill pick up the full versoin when i get my fourth. that game was instantly addicting tho, and it was just a demo.
both cube and xbox have madden, which i havent played but i read somewhere that xbox was slightly better graphically and that was the only difference. nfl fever is supposed to be better than madden. i have the game and dont think its great, but its kinda fun.
project gotham is also really good. when i bought it i didnt think it'd be that great, i kinda hesitated but got it anyway and that's all ive been playing lately. doa3 is really pretty, but playing it alone sux. there's only one friend i have who likes fighting games and i had a blast playing doa with him, but now that he's not here its collecting dust.
halo is real fun, and the online play is a plus. only thing i dont like about halo is the level design. it gets so repetitive and sometimes annoying. it'd be perfect if it had better levels, esp for deathmatch. i havent played games like wave race or luigi, and i dont really care for them. i hear waverace is practically a remake and luigi isnt too great, but i wont comment on thme til i play them. and xbox has lots of games coming up in the future that im really interested in. jet grind radio 2 in feb, nba2k2 and nfl2k2 i january i think. march has unreal championship and in december blood wake and i hear that silent hill is coming out soon too.

and then showing that nintendo is non-violent (well not as much as the others)
they should do this so more over protective parents would buy x-boxes for their kids
everywhere i go in RI they say that xbox is outselling GCs, every time i go to EB i see people picking up xboxes and the guys who work there are always trying to convince people to buy one, while never mentioning GC. with the games that are out now i think xbox is a better buy, esp with the network card and HD, that way you dont have to spend unnecessary money on a memory card. the games so far are so much better than the GC ones. and the ability to play halo online now makes it even better.
