Massive Magic = MMOCG

So everyone pretty much agreed that when Verant announced they were going to be doing a Star Wars MMORPG, when that game is completed a notable percentage of all computer geeks around the world will most likely disappear. What's gonna happen to the rest? They are gonna be playing the Magic: The Gathering MMOCG game being developed by Leaping Lizard Software. How the hell do you turn a card game in to a MMOCG?

Most of you will at least be familiar with the name if not the game itself, but the big news here is that Wizards of the Coast is making it even more accessible than it has ever been. They've been thinking about this one for quite a while now and have been in development for almost two years and come next year will be unleashing Magic Online upon the world. While the online version of the game isn't going to change anything drastically from what everyone knows and loves about the game, it is going to make it a lot easier to play for those that have found themselves wandering from the flock due to lack of competitors.
Yeah.. not quite sure how that one is gonna work out.

  • I so will not touch this. I enjoyed MTG back in the day, but that was before Fallen Empire and the assload of other bad expansions. I want the game without all that chum. And also, I'm geek enough. Either I'll play the game with people in person or I won't play it. I miss playing it but the thought of going online to play it is just sick. Plus, how are they going to market cards packs? $1/pack or something? Fsck that crap, I'm not going to pay for virtual trading cards. Ugh. This can go wrong in so many ways, it would really take a miracle to make it work right.

Good scoop though steve, I hadn't heard anything about this.
