Metal Gear Solid 2 Available
by Steve Gibson, Nov 13, 2001 2:33pm PSTGotten all kinds of reports from people saying Metal Gear Solid 2, the game for Playstation2 owners to get is out on shelves in a few places. We've seen all the gaming website reviewers slinging their spunk everywhere all excited about the game. As pleasant of an experience as that was... anyone else out there already get it and play it some? I imagine a lot of people around now are just getting home from work with their copies so here's a thread to discuss what you think of it. [screenshots] Oh try not to post too many spoilers, or give a warning at least first. :) Whadya think?

It seems the only games being made for consoles are 2-player fighters, silly Ex+R3m3 $p0r+$ games, regular sports games, and a billion Resident Evil clones. Except for a couple of space-shooter gems (I spooge for side scrolling space shooters!) I haven't met a fun, innovative, worth-owning game that wasn't made by Square since the SNES. Consoles used to have lots of fun games, was the ascension of 3D that poisonous to quality game design?

ha...hahahah...BWHAHAAHAHAHAHA...shit man, I can't breathe!
fun: ok, that's subjective, I'll leave that alone
innovative: Square? innovative? they've had effectivly the same crappy game style since they started, random battles != good gameplay
worth-owning: that's what the PC is for, Deus Ex, Half-Life, AvP2, Civ3, OpFlashpoint, BG2, Planescape, Arcanum, Red Faction, AoK/C, NOLF...need I continue?
