NVidia nForce @ FS
by Steve Gibson, Nov 13, 2001 4:38am PSTFiringSquad has a new nForce article taking a look at the performance of NVidia's new fun loving 3D chipset. The numbers they are getting make it sound like most likely it wont be a turd. That's good. Nobody likes a turd.

It's going to be a little pricier than your typical board, no doubt, however the prices I've been looking at for a decent soundcard to replace Creative crap mean the onboard sound generally balances that out.
One thing is the ASUS board for some reason doesn't use the nForce onboard sound or ethernet, while it looks like the MSI one does.
For pricing... well http://www.us.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10315330&loc= $170 at buy.com would easily translate into $150 at even some of the more reputable places on pricewatch.

Since I am looking for a system that doesn't REQUIRE my buying a GeForce 3/2/MX400 just to play accelerated games, this might be the ticket. Its performance when you slot in a GeForce 3 Ti-500 was quite nice too :)
