Project IGI2 Site
by Steve Gibson, Nov 13, 2001 3:48am PSTThe Codemasters page has opened up the Project IGI2 section of their website along with an announcement which includes some pretty good looking images (only one of them new according to Frans) of the sequel to Project IGI. Plus a beta signup form!
The new tagline for Project IGI2 is IGI2: Covert Strike.IGI 2 is scheduled to launch in Q2 2002 on PC CD-ROM and Codemasters is making the game a priority title. The acquisition of IGI 2 continues Codemasters successful 3rd party publishing programme. On PC the company has had great success with titles such as Severance: Blade of Darkness (RebelAct Studios) and more recently the no.1 best seller Operation Flashpoint (Bohemia Interactive) and continues to actively seek fresh triple-A product. Anywho, my $40 says this will be what IGI SHOULD have been. QA'ed, in-game saves, no lame respawning of AI and multiplayer. But Eidos wanted a Christmas shipment, so the first game got the el scroogie. Codemasters is probably the best publisher that could've picked this title up, as exemplified by their OFP management.
Should be interesting. It's also being released at a down time in tactical shooters, anyways.
Can't we do something new, like a good space-age shooter?
