  • It should be emphasized, this is for the hard-core RTS gamer. Its made for the people that have been playing starcraft since it was released. Its made for the people who still play War2 everyday. Its made for the people who have gotten into arguments about game balance. If you are a casual RTS gamer that enjoys single player and has played some multiplayer, you probably wont "get" this game right off the bat.

Thats not to say you cant enjoy it, but there is certainly a learning curve. The game is not trying to win people with its graphics or huge explosions. Its a very deep strategy game. Just keep that in mind when you go to play it.

sorry if I sound like a total fan boy. But these developers are new, young, and very small. I hate to see everyone poo-pooing this game after just 5 minutes of playing it

  • "ex-Starcraft guy Tom Caldwell" is Zileas. He never worked for blizzard. He was a very good starcraft player around the 1.03 patch. He is credited for coming up with a lot of the "new school protoss" strategies (which are now old and worthless). He had crazy micro skills. He did a lot of the game as far as developing strategies and basically changing the way island games were played. He won the starcraft broodwar beta tournament (beat Agent-911 in a 7 game series). I played him once during the beta, he was very good.

Strifeshadow is very good if you are really into RTS games. I beta tested it for awhile. It really does make a lot of changes gameplay wise. It was designed for the hardcore RTS player. The game eliminates a lot of the boring tasks of RTS games (peon pumping, supply) and concentrates more on tactics. Its an excellent game if you are into RTS games. Its certainly worth the $30
