Dreamcast Disaster

This story on Next-Gen talks about the flurry of defective game cd's that hit the market with the big Dreamcast release. I was actually one of the unlucky ones to pick up a defective copy of Ready2Rumble. I highly recommend checking out SoulCalibur though, that game is still amazing to me just for visuals, not to mention a lot of depth in gameplay. I haven't liked fighting games much since the old SF2 days but this game is just incredible.

  • I worked at a Game X Change for 6 years during the SNES/GENESIS war.SNES WON big time, anyone who says otherwise is full of shit and didn\'t have enough money left over after they got a genesis to get a SNES.Genesis had a few cool sports games, SNES had all of the best games.A little while after both systems stopped having new games come out, we sold snes games $10-30 each and genesis $5 each.We ran out of snes games quick, we STILL have tons of genesis games in the back because we got tired of having them out in the store for SO long and not selling any.

  • sega dreamcast is the yin to apple computers yang in the pc/console comparison game... two companies w/ spotty pasts who triumphantly rose from yada yada yak yak yak....

anywhoo... sonic the hedgehog scratching... quoth, \"my bad\"... ugg... if sega is cool, then my grandmother is cool.... and... she\'s not.

but, the \'soul\' series of fighting games, lets say i am.. a fan.. so nice1 there... its looks good too, but on looks + pc, just wait for NV10 aka (gay-force, i mean, geforce256... this was a contest winning name!!??)... that should knock j00 on yer colective asses...

  • i love it when people talk shit and post anonymous.

there aren\'t too many people who buy consoles to play games online. online gaming on consoles is just an option for those who want to try it out when it\'s available. i don\'t remember it saying anywhere that soul calibur was intended for online play, i think sega ralley was supposed to be the first game to support it. you go right ahead and play tf2 and aoe2, while dc users play nfl 2k and virtua fighter. oh, and fighting games arent meant to be played online anyway (:

  • Square has expressed interest in the DC, they say that sales have not really been strong enough in Japan. If it takes off in America (which it seems amazingly likely to do) and sales pick up in Japan (hopefully Shen Mue will have some influence here) then it\'s not impossible to see Square developing for the DC at some point. I doubt it\'ll be Final Fantasy, but it might be some other RPG. Personally, I\'m pretty much orgasmic at the news that a new Phantasy Star game is going to be coming out for the DC. It shall own. As if Soul Calibur/Sega Rally 2 aren\'t reasons enough to buy the system.

  • FFIX will be on psx1(square confirmed that a while back), DC kix ass, psx2 will kick ass to,$30 a month and i can get a psx2 next fall.Oh yeah,I really don\'t believe the psx2 will blow away the DC at launch, later on psx2 will own it,but the DC will have a long life. Also, the psx2 is fuxing ugly as hell, the DC has a great console design and the psx2 looks like my car stereo amp.P.S. square is pissing me off- STOP MAKING CINEMATIC/ RPG WANNA BE GAMES WITH SHITTY GAMEPLAY, go back to awesome rpgs like FF3 (amer.) FF8 doesn\'t even have armor!!!!In FF9 you will have to find rocks, take them to a store and turn them into gems, absorb a monster into the gem, match the gem to a certain type of weapon, turn your psx upside down, dance a jig and eat a sandwich , all of that just to cast a spell:). plus there will be 8 CDs and only 5 hours of actual gameplay.I miss real FF games.
