X-Box Woes?

Been having a few employees of stores send in reports of having some pretty strange difficulties with the X-Box demo units that are being sent around by Microsoft. There were also complaints of extreme load times and misc quirkiness. Well it's been 6 different people from 6 different places around the US now reporting that they have had first hand experience with X-Box machines crashing and not being able to recover. There is a story here with similar reports that was sent in a few times today. Is X-Box really that unstable? Was it just a goofup in the demo production run that wont be a problem in the retail release? There have been reports that the demo units are the final production models, although I havent seen anything that could really confirm that as accurate. Seems lke a strong possibility though given how close we are to shipping date. Given all this fruityness, there seems to be certainly enough warning out there to not just jump in and buy one. DOA3 and Shrek both look pretty darn cool. I'm gonna wait and see a couple of weeks after launch, if it keeps crashing then, PS2 or GameCube still look good.

  • well i went to walmart to buy some dvds and went to look at ps2 games. to my suprise, they actually had an xbox demo unit. it was playing the usual gameplay movies. when i first started playing Munch with the controller, it felt great. its bulky as fuck but its okay cus it lets your hands kinda just rest on it, instead of a smaller controller like the dual shock where you gotta be gripping constantly, xbox controller kinda lets your hands just be lose and hold it. and the triggers are just right too, same with the d-pad and analogs. now where it gets bad. THE FUCKING ACTION BUTTONS. omfg was william high when he decided to angle them? i mean, they're ok, except the one to the far left. you have to have the side of your thumb up against the right analog to hit the far left action button, and after about 20 minutes, its gonna start hurting like fuck. but i liked everything besides that one button. thats kinda of a big deal though, being an action button that you have to get to quickly. so i guess the controller isnt great but it doesnt really suck either.

now for the games. all the movies looked good as you would expect, too bad theres no way to tell if they are authentic gameplay. so all i have to go by is Munch. theres no way for me to judge the gameplay of it since it was like a tutorial level, so all i have to go on is the much hyped xbox graphics. let me tell you, going by Munch, they fucking suck. munch looks like a 1st gen ps2 game _at best_. lets hope for bill gates sake (yes we should be praying for the richest man in the world right?) that they get a new demo into stores quick (if they have any or is munch the real xbox deal?), because if many more people see Munch (IF THERE DEMO UNIT ISNT CRASHED), it's not looking good for MS.
