by Steve Gibson, Oct 19, 2001 8:46am PDTTech-Report has some lowdown on the ATI Radeon 8500 cards which ATI seems to be playing around with clock speeds again. The OEM cards are going to be slower than the retail versions, much like what they did with their last cards.

Here in Singapore we are organizing a mass buy for the Radeon 8500
OEM direct from ATI in Canada.
The person organizing it has been in direct communication with them and has received their assurance that ATI original OEM cards are clocked 275/275, and that is what we will be receiving. These are produced in Canada.
He has also been told that the 250/250 ones are cheaper clones produced in Taiwain. I'm speculating that these are from third-party vendors that ATI is selling chips to.
We're paying SGD410 for each, converts to about 225USD. That includes various connector cables. That price also includes shipping.
Sorry to provide you second-hand info. I hope it's reliable since I'll be getting one of them cards.
