Games That Go Bump

No half-life? Those headcrabs in the vents probably made me jump more than any other game.

They missed probably the scariest game of all times, Jazz Jackrabit 2. I think I crapped my pants 4 times while playing that game. Sometimes it scared me so much I ended up on the floor in a fetal position crying my eyes out screaming, "momma, daddy, momma, daddy!!! Make the bad man stop!!!"

I'm a little surprised that the first Blood didn't at least get a mention. Though I suppose the humor in the game offset the horror too much to really qualify for the article.

Dungeon Master was sorta spooky, in that every time you went down into the next level, you would hear noises of creatues moving around, but you had no idea what they were. My friend and I were plaything the 7th guest a long time ago, and the ending scene actually made him extremely scared. hehe.

Call of Chutulu is gonna make me shit myself for sure.

I used to play Thief with all the lights off using big headphones when I got my sblive!. That game scared the hell out of me on occasion :)

I used to have a Halloween tradition if you will of playing a load of DOOM on Halloween...it was really cool way back in the day. Mom would light up black candles she bought for Halloween and they'd be burning (puting off that burning candle scent...nothing better to play DOOM with than the smell of burning candles). Kids were out tricker treating and I'd usually idclev my way to a number of maps (invariably, I'd kill the Cyberdemon and Spidermastermind).

I also have been having the strangest dreams lately about old abandoned houses and stuff out in the middle of no where. We were driving to the USAF museum, and passed through old mostly abandoned towns and former outposts of civilization and the decaying old houses and farms and stuff kinda brought back a lot of bizarre notions I had as a child about those places...the old buildings no longer occupied, looking like architectural skeletons...they just emit a certain eerieness and I've been having occasional dreams about them for the last couple of months...those would make an interesting setting for a sureal horror FPS type game (particularly one dream I had).
